The worlds gone mad

A good example:

Last year, my eldest boy (5 years old then) was in his nativity play and loads of the parents brought cameras and video cameras to the play. Head teacher said no photography was allowed..boo hiss

This year, before the play, they sent out letters to all the parents with a little tick box, that said:
"if you object to having photos taken in the play please tick the box"

Far more sensible and you would think after last year, that noone would tick the box and all would be fine.
So I turned up at my sons play and the Head teacher said no cameras were allowed because one parent had ticked the box !!!
WTF , just because one parent had stupidly ticked that box, we couldnt take any photos and had to pay for the "official" ones.

Now, do you see just how out of hand this scenario has got?

Lets just say, I spent the whole play trying to find out which miserable paronoid ****wit it was and have a polite word with them...plank

i am sure when i was at primary school, all those years ago, about 20 years ago there was never an issue with taking photographs at all, school plays, playgrounds etc, i have nice photos in an album now of me and my school friends at school, that my mum and dad took of me, and i would like my son to have a similar album, and why shouldnt he??, Now the subject of this overall thread is a sign of the poor shape this world is now in, if i was walking around with my son in a shop or park etc it really would not concern me if someone was taking photos and we happened to be in them, dslr or single use camera no matter. I am quite flabbergasted that a thread like this should have to be started in the first place, it is nice to know where my family stands as regards to human rights and the legalities of people taking pictures, and i would not like it if some creepy bloke was purposly taking pictures of my son in public stalker like, then it would be a different story. This is not a rant, but as in a previous thread, this is an emotive subject indeed. And i also agree with Mr Scoob above.

You should be able to claim some compensation for all the 'distress' caused to you by the evil, child molesting, camera wielding, pervert.

Couple of things: What exactly do you mean by "high powered"? Presumably you feel that the size of the camera is directly related to the inappropriate thoughts of the user? Do you think that a paedophile would wish to draw attention to him/herself by using a conspicuous camera or do you not think they'd more likely be using a small, concealable, long-zoom compact camera?

Secondly - if they were taking pictures that were indeniably purely of you/your kids, then fair enough - you'd at least want to be asked for permission and toldwhy, first. However, shouldn't you at least find out if your worries/paranoia is founded before making the judgements that you clearly have?

If you don't want you or your kids to be captured on film a couple of hundred times a day, I'd suggest staying in your house mate!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Edited to add - if you truly don't believe that your original post reveals paranoia, then you're in denial
