Although seeing as I was accepted for the 2006 rally driving my WR1 I don't think they mind too much (by the way the only reason I didn't take part in 2006 was because the route wasn't finalised until the December of 05, and thats when they told us all that the cost was circa 25k)
hey mate,

thats interesting reading, but i don't understand why you pulled out, was it just the cost? surely you knew who much is was when you originally signed up?

The Gumball was normally about £10k. Jumping up to £26k for the 2006 event was a 'bit' of an increase, and is very understandalbe if people pulled out for that reason.

I think that last year it was aimed at the super-rich, rather than the rich

If i had the money and the car i'd love to do it.

Yeah there will be a few tossers who do it, but most people are genuine car enthusiasts who are up for a good time.

And would love to have been at the party at the Playboy mansion. Just to look mind!!!

Default gumball rally

ok thought id put my bit towards this thread......

mmmm gumball when max started he didnt break even with this for 3/4 years.

i have some very good friends that have worked at the h,q in london and what i can say is that sometimes it can very different from what you actually see on the dvd you buy from the shops, i think in all its a great idea and like with anything when it invovles multi million pound cars and like minded people you invariably get all sorts of characters, good bad snobby and such like.
when you want to race lambos and the rest through certain countrys you have to look into the possibilty in paying the local fed,s to turn a blind eye, at 100 cars coming through at 200mph you get my drift.
I also have been on some organized trips in the last 4 years and can honestly say i could do alot better. certain other organized trips charging silly money just to go to the ring for a few days.....

Going to put something together for next year with some good driving roads not just motorways, interesting places to visit et etc etc something for everyone, with some challenges along the way.

let us know what you all think.
craig.

I'm with you on the scumball, here is a video of last years exploits.
YouTube - Scumball 3000 - 2006 (Cars cannot cost more than £500)
a 3 day thrash around france with the finest people you'd care to throw in with in a car costing no more than 500 quid. From the startline on madira drive, to the finish line 1200 miles later, I had a great time
astraboy.
