No class and worth nothing to any "Watch Guru" . for that money yopu couls buy a watch with a better movement and more class. Scoobynet seems to have many TAG fans (£150.00 to change a battery !! Mugs !! all they do is a quick clean and new seal and some silicon type compound on the winder stem and the thread of the back.Less than 5 mins work.Quick dip in a bucket of water to see if any bubbles leak !

One of the best rip offs going.

But if all your interested in is Chav bling........ dont let me stop you !

Oris: Lots of trouble with these. Tissot have moved forward and doing well. Check ebay out for Omegas. But stay away from the "007's" just about everyone a fake. Seiko 5's and their premier range "lasale" are great for the money.
Agreed

For that money, go with Seiko.

Quite fancy the Honda f1 chrono myself.

The number of the stupid, clueless mugs on here never ceases to amaze me. Those ****ty fashion watches with w@nk designer names on them are literally pieces of ****. Congratulations for wearing a dog turd on your wrist you loser.

In the £300 range my money would go on a Seiko if I wanted a new watch. Some of the watches Longjing mentioned are also very nice. I particularly like the Panerai style Aristo.
Poljot have too many QC problems when you look at comments on the watch forums.

The bargain watch of the moment has to be the Sinn U1. It's a fantastic piece of kit, particularly on the metal bracelet.

SINN U1 1000m

Looks like value to me at $US1200, which is why I bought one.

Should have added in my previous post that the people paying £150 to have their nasty quartz Tag battery changed are stupid mugs as well.

Not only are most TAGs overpriced crap they lose huge chunks of their value. Congrats on pissing your money into the wind.

The only decent 'TAG' watches are mechanical. Here's one of the few that's interesting and worthy although it does look like a bit of a turd

TAG Heuer Link > Link Man Watch > Link Calibre 36 Chronometer - CT511A.BA0564 > Man Luxury Wristwatch, Prestige Watch

Obviously I'm not including Heuer watches in this '****' category.

My girlfriend got me this for my birthday last year - should be in your price range. Longines LungoMare...

They do a chrono and other versions too. I prefer the sleeker style of this one though.

Whilst I wouldn't have put it quite so harshly, I agree totally.

If you want a decent watch, buy one from a company that makes watches. Don't buy one from a company that makes clothing (in Vietnam) and then charges the earth for the label. All you're getting is a cheap and nasty generic quartz movement worth about £1 that you could pick up in a market, in a flashy case with the makers logo on (Armani, Ferrari, etc.). It really is pissing money down the drain.

You don't need to spend megabucks to get a really great watch, £200 to £300 would get you a really nice Seiko etc which will look great and keep time perfectly for many years if looked after.

If you want to spend less, think Casio, Timex, Accurist, Sekonda etc and you'll still get a very good watch for not much money.

I remember trying to talk a couple of my mates out of buying Ellesse sports watches in the £400 range once, both bought them anyway and both were returning them to the dealers regularly to have bits replaced that had fallen off. It was shocking how badly made they were, and the amount of things which broke or went wrong.

One of them was lucky enough to persuade the dealer to let him exchange it for a Seiko Kinetic after about 6 months, so he didn't lose too much. The other basically lost £400 and had to buy another watch about a year later.

I think the above advise is also true for most things.

For example surf gear (I used to rep for Rip Curl) is complete pants when it tries to be "technical" - Get a Quiksilver mountain jacket - It WON'T work.
Get a Billabong watch - It will have the cheapest movement going.
Yet they cost as much if not more than "proper" makes.
I remember a mate of mine getting an Ellesse watch many years ago. It cost a lot and had to go back about five times. My G Shocks are utterly reliable and great value.

Inappropriate labels are a mugs game.
