I think they are hideous... But New Labour socialism tells us that we have to accept them (romanyins) into our midst as equals and in most cases our betters (apparently).

Thanks...

They do though. We've had a vacancy for a fork lift driver for over 6 months and cant get anyone RELIABLE. 14K but we cant get anyone. For the last 2 years we had vacancies for labourers,60 hours a week,18k yet all we ever had was very UNRELIABLE agency staff.

Most "foreigners" are taking the low paid jobs. Whats happening is we (as in UK companies) are replacing unreliable uk workers with reliable "foreign" workers.
I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but thats what is happening.

If your a jolly poverty stricken foriegner. Where in your country you get paid 10p and hour and work a 15 hour day. Just think of the manatism of a country where you can gain entry and earn a living for more moeny than you could have ever concieved.

So move to this country, you get our "generous" minimum wage which is by far more, do a few less hours. Live in ****ehole scum infested hell hole that is the Hilton compared to the crumbling tenament flat you and 12 of your family were born and raised in. And what money you gain you ship off abroad to your family, in hope one day they will come here too, or in hope you find a gullible rich Englishman to take pity on you

Jobs are there, just the English have too much inflated self worth to do them...they want more (don't we all), the ****e jobs will always be available to the migrants, nothing has ever changed in that area.

I agree, you want your petrol stations to be open at 7am on a sunday morning, but refuse to pay more than 90p per litre? Then handing over your card to someone who barely speaks a word of english is the price you have to pay.

you guys have it easy compared to america...... at least your an island(with terrible weather) that in itself should stop most people from coming here(coupled with your rediculous exchange rate).... at least your not america that all mexicans have to do is swim a river or hop a fence that isnt even patrolled in remote areas....

dont take what you have for granted

the only thing that bothers me here is the huge influx of middle eastern types....

Which country is it that has blocked the use of their equivalent of our DSS / NHS etc. to immigrants for a set period of time..??

That seems like a fair idea to me.

No UK government handouts or help to anyone that hasn't worked here for a minimum of 6 months and paid National Insurance, income tax etc, like us hard working folk.

That may make it seem a tad fairer and could serve to discourage the migrants who are simply coming here for the NHS and DSS type handouts.

The only worry I have is the influx to the UK of Eastern European gangs that are so prevalent in those countries, with the resultant increase in organised and petty crime.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but thats what is happening.
a point id like to make here. you say relaibale, but i find that no be simply not true in many cases. where i work we have around 50/50 english/polish workers. the poles start off through an agency and after passing probationary periods of training etc, are taken on permanently. some are good workers, some are bad, same as the brits that work there. you always get the workaholics and lazy barstewards...

but the thing with many polish workers now, is they come over, knowing that they have at least three months over here on a fantastic wage compared to "home", and do bugger all for these three months earning the same as i do. when they dont get taken on due to obvious lazyness etc, they either bugger off bsck home with 2/3 years worth of average polish salary from three months of diddly squat, or they take a lower basic paid job in a ****ty factory somewhere.

a good example being my girlfriend. shes only 20, and after leaving college at 18, couldnt find a job anywhere... the reason (and this was quoted several times by agency admin) the foreign workers have all the jobs, low paid work, meduim paid work et al.

another excellent example was a friend of mine who lost his job around 6 months ago in a furnitue manufacturing warehouse. he went straight away to get signed on at some agencies (i gave him a lift around them so saw first hand what went on). went into one ageny, filled in the registration forms... "sorry ***** , we dont have anything for you at the minute". fair enough, keep trying. in pop two polish?lithuanian guys, say the same thing "i look for work" etc, broken english... guess what, left 10 mins later with work in a nearby factory, with a lift to/from work via said agency. needless to say my friend was peeved at this, so he asked why. "oh because we generally take priority for foreign workers with factory work, because if they have no work, they get deported etc"... you couldnt make it up!! my mate was fuming and we both stormed out after taking TWO complementary mints each. y the way, hes still looking for work now...

this isnt a personal attack on foreign workers, but a lot of them, especially in s****horpe where i work and live, are very ignorant, dont speak basic english, very rarely have proper car insurance/tax/even licences.

its been discussed on various other threads, but i would certainly not call most foreign workers "relaible workers" by any stretch of the imagination.

my tuppence anyways...

mmmmmm.......plenty of work in this country....the problem is that no one wants to start low with the ****ty jobs.....
I am of Portuguese origin, and have a very open mind about anything in this world and society and one thing that really pisses me off is seeing people complaining that there is no work available etc.....
Lets think for a minute....do you have any idea of how many so called "UK born" people are out of work, not because they cannot find anything, but because they do not bother to actually look for work, collecting the dole money or whatever its called now.
I do not mind paying the amount of taxes that I do, knowing that this will help the Elderly and the Sick somewhat even though it hurst everytime I receive my paysleeps. I do mind paying for 12-17 year olds to stay at home, collecting the state handouts (sometimes more money than what the average working person does take home) and have kids, which the working population will have to support again and again, this is a cycle that happens time and time again......there is nothing we can do about it realisticaly.

If all these people who are able bodied and in conditions to work, got their ***** off the couch, there wouldnt be so much work availabe for the "foreigners" to take hold of, which in turn would reduce the numbers coming into the country as they would find it harder to find a job as these would be scarce with most of them taken by the "english" population......

Im with the "If they come to work and pay taxes, so be it" crowd.....
mmmmmm.....I wonder what is said about the so called "english" going into other countries to work.......

Good points mate, like you i can only speak from experience. As for wages i know a Polish woman who now earns triple her old wage working in Tesco's,but more than the money she feels she is treated well and looked after and everyone is so freindly. In Poland you get few breaks and are treated like $hit (her words).
The second point is where i work we now have a policy of NOT employing anyone who cant speak fluent English. How can you induct someone and explain health and safety regulations if they dont understand. Firms are leaving themselves open for prosecution if they arent careful.

THIS IS WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND....................

its ok saying that the immigrants are only taking the low paid jobs that we don't want but what about when they have brought the wife and kids over to live in their nice shiny council house, these 'low paid' jobs wont be any good to them. they will then need a bigger wage to finance all this, therefore taking away jobs that we need, and if they cant get a better job then how do they survive?........got to be benefits or crime

how is this going to work?
