The world is changing. Better get used to it. The Soviet Block has colapsed.

The Eastern Europeans have put up with **** for decades (and still do) while we've had it good. Now the balance is changing. And it will continue to change. I feel very sad for the UK victims (how can a dad with a couple of kids and a mortgage afford to compete with an immigrant worker living twelve to a house?) but it's government that needs to control the inevitable transition. However, the world moves fast; government moves like a snail on dope.

You worry about Indian call centres? Wait till the Chinese get a grip of English. Luckily (?) 80% of the 1.2bn Chinese (that's 20x the UK population) are still living below the poverty line and are still looking for their next bowl of rice. That doesn't seem right to me. And the rest appear to be mi££ionaires Madness - and heading our way.

On the other hand, turn the tables and learn Mandarin. Not easy, but you'll make a bl00dy fortune.

Richard.

My missus used to go to a nail bar to get her pinkies fettled by some very pretty oriental ladies. Not the best English speakers...

A month ago, bang, shut, closed. Apparently for illegal immigation. But there are also rumours of drug smuggling and prostitution. It's not a pleasant outlook whichever way you look at it

You certainly cannot blame the Poles,Romanians, Bulgarians, or any one else for wanting to come here when they can get paid so much compared to their wages at home. If they are honest and pay their taxes and have not come here to rely on benefits then it would be totally wrong to place any blame on them for coming to a country wherte the government have effectively welcomed them.

NL support immigration, it is one of their dogmas. They are only too pleased to welcome cheap labour who will help their rich business friends to make more profits. I believe that they have deliberately encouraged all the immigrants both legal and otherwise for their own purposes.

The fact that it is overburdening all our public services which we pay for is of no concern to them since they do not care a monkey's about indigenous British people anyway. We are the cash cows to be milked in any conceivable way when they need a bit more money and the IMF won't lend them any more at that moment.

They refused to take advantage of the blocking that even the Eu allowed as far as immigration is concerned so anything they say about stopping immigration is to be taken with a pinch of salt as I think we will see eventually all over again.

Our heavily reduced and underfunded security and immigration services are quite unable to cope which is obviously by design.

We are now in the situation where the foreigners are getting the jobs while the lazy chavs who cant be bothered to work are living on benefits which we are paying for with our taxes!

Les, you are right.

Get the cheap labour in to run your business on, make all the tax dodges possible by having clever accountants, then mr average PAYE wage slave picks up the tab to pay for the housing, health, education etc of the immigrants.

Also, its very difficult for the avergae white collar worker with a mortgage to breed, usually needing two salaries to pay the vastly inflated house prices, the scum have no such worries so breed with inpunity.

That said, within reasonable limits I think immigration is positive thing if the immigrants in question come here to contribute to society, in fact there should be an 'outegration' policy for scroungers who dont want to do anything.

Cant say I have noticied much in the way of Eastern European immigration here in Cheshire, lots of Asian areas around Manchester but they have been there years, all I see is the odd confused Borat alike in an old Renault five or similar.

They are being allowed for a short-term boost to the economy by:

a) reducing wage inflation - which in turn allows interest rates to stay low(ish)
b) increasing pressure on housing - Labour HAVE to try and keep house price inflation high for as long as possible as its in turn fueling consumer spending, and boosting the economy

But its all short term boosts. In the long run they'll not want to keeping working for slave wages, they'll all want heathcare and pensions - so its just another nail in the coffin for the UK - however I should add that I have nothing at all against Eastern Europeans - they work hard and intergrate.

Maybe all the previous waves of immigrants who are here not intergrating or working should be kicked out and replaced by Romainians.

A friend of mine runs a medium-sized haulage business based in the North West.

He now has 9 Polish drivers on his books, after employing the first Polish driver 18 months ago. Why?

a) He says they are good employees.
b) He gets customers ringing / emailing and saying "your new driver was really helpful, helped to unload etc etc, and the old driver just used to sit in the cab while we did the job"

Being British.

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a
Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

And the most British thing of all?
Suspicion of all things foreign!

Only in Britain can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

Only in Britain do supermarkets make sick people walk all the way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in Britain do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET Coke.

Only in Britain do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.

Only in Britain do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.

Only in Britain do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

Only in Britain are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink.

They'll get the jobs that our youngsters want, either the lower paid jobs that keep our kids off the streets, or the training type jobs that our kids need to get trained. Either way, they'll work for peanuts, which our kids can't.

I now know of several kids between the ages of 16-20, working for NOTHING, in order to get trained. They recieve NOT ONE PENNY, and does governemnet care? NO because they don't exist on govmt figures;Mad:
Meanwhile, their parents are paying their tyravelling, keeping them, giving them spending money etc etc. So much for their self-image.

Nothing adds up anymore.I thought most big Tesco like businesses bought goods from abroad because labour was cheap and hence why our farmers and the countryside could not compete.

Why bring in cheap labour to the UK that suddenly will be charging £5 plus an hour for bagging lettuces rather than the previous 50p an hour? Will these businesses start buying British goods too?

I dislike the EU with a passion anyway.Funny that good old Tony forgot about the Referendum on the EU that we were all promised.Seems everyone else forgot about that promise too

Unfortunately there is a minority of young people in this country who have fecked it up for the majority of people who want to work.

My place of work now employs maybe 200 Estonians/Poles etc and undoubtedly Romanians in the near future. Thats out of a workforce of 800 in a well known, Blue chip company.

We have not taken on an English worker for 12 months and it is now policy that all long term temps are foreign. These are paid exactly the same as English workers.

The English ones either do 2 days work (or less) and then leave just because they have to actively seek work to continue getting benefits, or just wing it with loads of time on the sick.

The Eastern europeans turn up on the dot, work, do overtime when required. You very occasionally get one that goes home for holiday and cant be bum to come back but thats it.

As a rule, in the 20-25 age bracket they are just far more of an all round benefit to the company than a young English guy i am ashamed to say

Nunoamori 133,

I presume you are not disabled.

Those who are and are not able to walk very far for one reason or another could well find it perfectly possible to glide along on ice skates where they do not have to use the muscles they need for walking. Best find another example!

oh and my local asda shop in scunny has its lloyds pharmacy at the front of the shop near the trolleys as you go in.

and also, name a british car manufacturer that sells many different types of car, ie saloon, hatchback etc for a reasonable price compared to our german, japanese, french counterparts. there isnt that alternative.

some of the points made were very one sided, with easily argumentable points, and exxageration i think.

I'vw worked in fresh produce for a while - Eastern Europeans work about three times harder than Brits, don't moan all the time, and mostly graft like nutters.

Meanwhile Brits workers moan about not having any jobs and how immigration should be stopped.

If you work hard, you will always have a job. If you don't, others will have your job.
