I think it's fine and I'm a Paki. Hold on I made that comment! My stance on the word paki is quite clear, I don't find it offensive. I however do not speak for everyone.

I have always understood the term Paki to be offensive, but maybe i'm just not up to date with the latest thinking. It changes so often it's hard to keep up

Forgive me, Leslie.... Gatty is called a 'Nose ' by me for his so called alllegience to a local football team, (you'll have t oeither ask him the team or suss it yourself , but they play in blue and their fans are blue 'Noses' hence the term.. or Zulus'... now I wouldnt class Gatty as a zulu , for even though I support the other mob, I do actually know a few zulu's and the one thing about them is they are inherently lads that couldn't GAFF about colour etc) isnt that right, Gatty ?

heccers a true zulu is a rare breed even myself a life long bluenose have only got to say hello to a few on a couple of away games (the first time was in the yew tree down your neck off the woods) Zulus are a real clique and i certainly would not like to get involved with them, theres plenty of hangers on but not true zulu. As i work on most of the main construction sites you get to here whos who.

By the way did you see the prem all stars last night ? we just about scrapped a win againts pompey thanks to a Mr seaton ( musical youth lead man!)

What do you think our chances are tomorrow

Dont answer

Nice to see you have found your place.

'Blue nose'? 'Zulu'? Grown men playing football gangs... how utterly tragic.

Most "foreigners" are taking the low paid jobs. Whats happening is we (as in UK companies) are replacing unreliable uk workers with reliable "foreign" workers.
I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but thats what is happening.
Not being funny, but when your paying £5.76 an hour for labourers, i'm not surprised you cant get anyone. So hence your excuse for employing cheap foreign labour. What a load of crap. You use and other buisnesses use the same crappy excuse, so as to keep the wage bill down and your wages up.

The Yew Tree, what a great boozer. Grew up in Small Heath and the Yardley. First pint i ever had was in there and a few more as well. My local untill about two years before they flattend it, most of the lads tot in the new inns now. Played footy for two years with cuddles and alan (paki al) siv, and the rest of the loons. A real great bunch of lads and it only ever kicked off twice when we played sunday mornings for THE ROOST pub. One when a geezer CS gassed Batch (cuddles) as he went to take a throwin, oh dear should'nt have done that and then when we played a greek/cypriut team in the cup at a pitch in shard end and they made a few racist remarks again, oh dear should'nt have done that. I went to work in Berlin with Bamo and stooped playing footy then. Still see, Sooty and Bamo but hav'nt seen batch or alan for a while. Apols for the off topic chat

Thanks Hectic

I was really worried for a moment that I was falling behind the modern terminology!

IMHO it is not so much the word as the feeling/sentiment behind it.

I do not get offended by being called a Brit or a pomme. Some black (can you still say black without being branded a racist?!?) call each other ni^^er and that is ok, if i as a 40 y/o white guy yelled it i would not be popular...

I do think this is down to a lot of PC liberals thinking they know what is best for the resrt of us and making it an issue.

I do take issue with the PC brigade apologising on behalf of the brisish people for slavery recently. I do not need them to apologise for me as i have nothing to apologise for regards slavery. I know it is wrong, i would not do or condone it. It was a long time ago and part of our history and nothing to do with me as such.

I do not ask the modern Germans to apologise for Hitler or the Genocide of the Jews and any others he saw fit as i know it is not their fault or responsibility. It is their and our responsibility to make sure it does not happen again by learning from the mistakes past in the same way we learn from the good things.

Red face

Not related to the Romanians, but had a conversation with one of the Polish workers today and asked why he had came here to work, and he retorted that unemployment rates are 16% in Poland. So according to labour, if they are so hard working. Why are they borderline one of the poorest Eu nations??????????? Come on Someone install the virtues and why our taxes are spent on interpreters translating the foreign armada than our own kids
