I agree many have gone down hill in service and food quality, and the prices are killing them. The one close to me has been about for over 40 years and used to be rammed on a weekend, nowadays it barely sees any custom

It's the prices killing them IMHO, not the food, or choice.
Olympic breakfast, £7.99, PLUS around £2 for a coffee or tea, sadly with either only one, or no refills now
My bro in law's caf in st Helens, right on the High Street: Full breakfast, (bacon, sausage, egg, beans, mushrooms, toast fried tomato, AND a cuppa, £3.99.

I for one am glad it's going to continue.

Only ever eaten there when there's been some deal on.
Average food, tragic prices, very much of the 70s/80s poor UK catering generation now dead and buried.
Surprised it's lasted this long.

This was the Little Theif at Shrewsbury at around 09:30 in the morning at the start of one of our Wales Camping Trips back in 2003.
...we were told that there would be at least a 30 minute wait (for three of us at the time) before we could be served. The two coach parties that arrived shortly afterwards were also somewhat disappointed. Turning away such custom is that start of a slippery slope (which bottomed out today)
We found an excellent cafe for breakfast at Dobbies Garden World just across the way a year later. Good food, imaculate service, and reasonable prices - proof that you can still run a profitable business - if you manage it correctly!

It is a shame that they are going down the pan as they have only just been bought out by a company (about 12 months ago) I understand what people are saying about revamping the menu and changing the management etc however this is very hard with such a large organisation when the hardest thing to change is usually the employees atitudes.
