As for the mental capacity, you're not half as as us No doubt I will cry once he leaves, but we will both be happy knowing he will be going somewhere good with great people to look after him

From your point of view, it was a shame in some respects that you couldn't take him home today, but he will be fine here for another few weeks - as we said, it's not a problem You left him here today for all the right reasons though, as it would make it a lot harder to get things done that need doing first

LOL @ the name you have chosen, we will start calling him by that now, so hopefully he will be used to it before you take him home

(Does that mean Steve's the equivalent of a dog now, or is the dog a *to$$er the hedgehog* has Steve as recently been called? )

Will be great to know how he gets on, hopefully he will have put a bit more weight on too in the next few weeks He's getting there - slowly

Im glad that yoda ears or (deekay) is going to a good home make sure you look after him and get him chipped you dont want him to go missing
make sure you give him a stroke for me every day because i would of loved to of had him but my mum wouldnt let me at the bright age of 20!

They are more than capable of giving him what he needs and he liked them too He is going to be one loved dog

I'm so glad it's all worked out so well, you know I really considered seriously whether I'd be able to take him on but fortunately Mark stepped in just in time Loving the choice of name by the way

I know how hard it is to have to leave them behind once you've made the decision to take them on. I first heard about my current Staffie when a friend told me his Dad had come across a six month old Staff needing a home in some kennels in Derbyshire. We drove up there (3 hours away) to see her and fell in love straight away but had to leave her there for a further three weeks as we were just about to go on holiday. It was so hard to leave her, she looked absolutely distraught as we left and although I tried to explain that we'd be back she didn't understand (obviously ). By the time we went back to pick her up she'd visibly lost weight but was so glad to see us. She behaved impeccably in the car all the way home then did a big poo on the lounge carpet the minute we walked through the door

my dog did better than that when we first got her she had a pee in the hall way when she walked in and never stopped there she was peeing everywhere for days! she's trained now and a lovely little doggy.

Back on topic, I'm impressed with your willpower Mark, being able to leave Sonic2 up there after having decided you wanted him We weren't able to do that with any of our three cats (Cat 1 is no longer with us). As soon as we decided we were having them, that was it, they had to go home with us there and then

The most sensible move was collecting Cat 2 three weeks before we moved house You want to try confining a heavily armed psychopath to barracks for over a month when she desperately want's to be outside laying waste to the garden

Yes it was hard, we both wanted to take him. Unfortunately the last year i have been doing a big DIY project that is coming to an end. Need to level, tile, and grout the hall area and then fit and paint skirtings in the whole downstairs area. We do not have any doors downstairs so i canot lock sonicdog in a room anywhere.

Sonicdog may not like his new home very much stood in 2" thick of floor levelling compound or with gloss paint all over his mush.

It is very nice of Sonicman and D.K.1 to look after sonicdog for 2 or 3 weeks more

We are so happy that he will be going to a good home though, wo both thought you were great people from meeting you

I'm not giving sonicdog a bad attitude, it's funny sitting on his ball making him wonder where it is He looks so confused LOL

One thing worries me about you though, according to mark engers, you chould be bald, have a goatee and have loads of tattoo's and you don't fit the stereotype

I can see your point. As far as painting is concerned, If my old dog's behaviour was anything to go by Sonicdog would be loving it, it's you that would be having tearing your hair out
If you had a tin of paint open in our house, you could guarantee the dog's nose would be in it, and her tail would always be up any freshly coated walls

A touching story, I have been keeping my mum and dad up to speed on this one as they own a brindle staffy bitch and were concerned for "dog". They'll be made up to hear the final chapter.

Just one issue, if the dog is called Sonic, is there not a chance that he will curl up into a little ball when scared and only eat milk and bread in the back garden

You do realise that once he has his shaven head, goatee and tattoos he will turn his attention to the dog and give it a spiked collar and get it's ears pinned, steroid injections etc?

u know before i saw the pics and realised his breed i was about to PM you and snap him up if you still had him , im looking for a nice family dog myself as my kids are at an age where itd do em good plus i enjoy having pets about the house and aint had any for a while now. but givin his breed and recent events id have to recline givin ive got kids . good luck however

I think you should read up about these dogs before posting such bollocks. I take it you read/believe everything in the papers.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers are renowned for being incredibly good with children, and will often act more gently and less boisterous around youngsters than many other breeds will – giving them the nickname of nanny dogs. They really do seem to know that they need to be more gentle and less playfull than they otherwise would be.

P1 Mark, you have made a good choice, Sonic with be a very loyal and loving pet. I hope you have a good fire in your living room, staffs like nothing more than stretching out in front of the fire at night or curling up next to you on the sofa and snoring away.

Give him lots of attention, they love playing pulling games and enjoy a good play fight too.

They are very clever dogs and learn very quick, mine can roll over and play dead, he brings me cans of lager and peanuts up stairs and then takes a thankyou note back to the wife. He loves to carry the shopping in from the car as well.
Glad this sad story has turned out ok, well done Sonic DK1 and everyone else involved

My brother is now selling his staffie because he pees when he gets excited and he has a 2 year old daughter that could fall in it and stuff so if anyone interested give me a shout he's white i'll post pics later
