Let me get this straight, he is selling the dog (note selling, not re-homing indicating that money is more important than the welfare of the animal) because he is worried his child might fall in a puddle of urine?

This is without question the most absurd thing I have read in this thread.

Would you please go back you your 'brother' and ask him if this is the real reason or whether, in light of recent news, he is worried his 2 year old daughter will get savaged. And look him in the eyes when you ask him.

Yes mate, i am not new to Staffords. I had a little tan/white fella called Billy from a pup until he was 9, at which my point my ex wife's incessant moaning about dog hairs and dog smell made me give him to my mum . He died last year at 14.

He was a fantastic dog, very similiar as described in the link. Even just spending 3 hours in the prescence of Sonic at the wekend all of them traits are there. If they were not i would have walked away.

Thats not because of any notional ideas about staffy behaviour (As we both know what the breed is like) but more so i would walk away from any dog that i did not know its full history and showed any kind of odd behaviour. He has all the traits that you would expect to see, even though he is of unknown background and has recently been through a bit of a trauma.

I have a 7 year old daughter, and if i was not 100% certain i would not take sonic on. He is as fussy and playful as you would expect and Donna's lad Andrew gave Sonic a very hard time, bashing him with a toy car, generaly being a bit rough. Sonic just sat there and when he got fed up walked off. (BTW this is no reflection whatsoever on Donna's parenting or Andrew being an unruly boy for reason's that i will not go into)

Nice to see one of the resident SN troll's has turned up on an otherwise very nice thread. Hopefully if he posts again it will be in as nice a manner as his first one

That's why they spend a lot of time in the conservatory when the kids are about Was funny when Sonic got hold of Andrew's car though, even though Andrew was playing rough, they play well together, Sonic is VERY tolerant So is that tub of lard we call Scooby

I'm glad he is what you expected. I just hope that his unknown background doesn't make him come out with a few nasty suprises later on, saying that, there will be no looking back for him, must feel like ages has passed since roaming and starving!

I apprecited your comments about Andrew on Sunday too, not many people would be that honest

What are these recent events then? Does it involve a Staffordshire Bull Terrier?

Do you know that the Kennel Club rate a Staffordshire Bull terrier in the top 3 breeds of dogs for being great with kids?

Thanks for the nice words and wishes, but i'm afraid you are the kind of un-educated oaf who gets Staffords a bad reputation. Mark Engers does it for effect and to try and wind people up so he has an excuse. You should read a bit more about different dog breeds and how they are with kids, you may change your mind.

If he does spring up with any nasty suprises (he won't, trust me) then all we can say for certain that it will not be Yours, Steve's,Corrina's or my own fault, as we will all have done (or will do) the very best we can for him.

no i can assure you that he is a very soft dog my niece has been around him since they've had him and she's a typical 2 year old pulling tails and slapping instead of stroking and he just sits there

my brother is in the process of selling his house and 2 dogs is too much for him to handle with a young child aswell

Yeah he slept fine, demolished a rubber dumbell toy yesterday that he found in the garden, made tha carpet look nice

I have another nice bruise on my arm from playing with him again good job I had my jumper on or I am sure it would have broke the skin

He has been a bugger today trying to get on the sofa next to me Loves having a tummy rub, tail never stops wagging either

Had my daughter Sophie with us this weekend. Told her the news on friday and showed her the pics and she has not stopped going on about Sonic since.

Dragged me to the pet shop and got stocked up on toys and treats and she has been surfing the internet for fancy bowls, beds and Staffy related books (she is 7!). She printed all the pics off and has made herself a collage to take home so she can look at him in the meantime.

She will be gutted if she is not with us when we pick sonic up, so absolutely flat out DIY to ensure we are ready in 2 weeks time.

What a load of crap, do a bit of research on the breed and I think you will find some interesting stuff, why do people always stereotype these dogs.

He is settling down well.

I dont suppose he has done a 120 mile journey in a car before, and it was a little traumatic for him but he was a brave dog.

Obviuously we gave him a couple of hours fuss last night before we let him calm down for a bit before we went bed. He whined at the bottom of the stairs for maybe an hour before he settled down.

Looks like he spent some of the night on his bed and then some on the sofa. Its going to be difficult to stop him as we have no doors downstairs.

There was a liquid and a solid message left for us this morning but thats to be expected. The big thing was nothing was chewed up

He has trashed a few toys this morning already and had a nice walk, but i have to say he is everything and more i expected. Lively, playful, belligerent and stubborn, fantastic with my daughter and very affectionate with every one. He has a couple of issues with jumping up and putting his front paws onto worktops and tables but i'm sure it won't take long to stop this.

His farts are quite the most disgusting and frequent ones ever in the history of the animal kingdom though but at least i can blame him! A bit of experimenting with his diet and food type should sort this out.

all 3 of us are over the moon with him, he is a beautiful dog.

Will get some pictures up later of him settling into his new home.
