Glad he wasn't too bad on his first night, sorry about his little presents I hope it wasn't on the carpet

I did fore-warn you about his smelly *** That's one thing I won't miss about him How can you even contemplate blaming such a sweet animal for your own little stinks? I don't think you will get away with it

Did you have the windows open all the way home too?

Sounds like he is settling in already and probably not even missing us now with all the love and fuss he is getting I am glad he is happy, I am sure he will settle in pretty quick Glad he hasn't chewed anything up too.

The paws on the worktop thing.... We have had that problem too, he will get down when you tell him, but it never stopped him trying He is so cheeky I am sure it won't take long to train it out of him though

We are glad he has gone to a good home when we are sure he will be extremely happy and well looked after Glad Sophie likes him too, she seemed excited last night, I don't blame her hehe, she is a lovely girl

Apologies for Andrew's feet in your face Hope he didn't hurt

Yes D.K.1, he decided to poo and wee on the 3 day old carpet when he could have chosen tiles instead

We had to keep oprning the windows, he was nervous and it was every 5 minutes or so! he has calmed down today now he is a bit more settled thank the lord

No worries about Andrews feet in my face, i have had far worse sat on it.

Anyway, enough of the banter, i'm sure you would both like to see how he is settling in .

I see he has assumed his natural position already

He does look like he is settling quite nicely, it almost seems strange to see him in someone elses house

A shame about the carpet though, and pity he couldnt have used the tiles

Can I have him back for a short while, as I havent any excuse for the smell now

He certainly enjoys them hard rubber things, them bones I mentioned last night Mark, are 69p from Home Bargains (if you have one nearby) I picked a load more up today for Scooby, he loves them as does Sonic, and they do last quite some time compared to the hide based rolls

He look's a lot better now he has put some pounds on, he looked really sad in those first pics when Sonic first found him, or when he found Sonic!

So glad he has gone to a good home and all has worked out fine. You are all very kind dog loving people

Staffs have been given a bad name by some people on SN and the press who know nothing about the breed, these pics show what a friendly loving pets they are, I would not have any other breed.

Hope you have got the fire on full for him, we only light our's for the dog.

On the subject of dog food try here:Burns Pet Nutrition Ltd Food For Dogs I've used it for years, it's very good and not full of rubbish like tinned food.

Hmm, an air freshener that time releases every few minutes attached to the **** would be a damn fine invention for both Sonic's I think

It has been the most wonderful day today - Sonic has settled in more as the day has gone on - we (the girls) have been to the pet shop and spoilt him rotten. He has been introduced to family and friends and won hearts all round

He is now spread out on the floor next to his master, who is spread out on sofa with beer

All is well in the world (or the world of Sonic) anyway.

Cassie (Mark's misses to you lot)

PS. for above post on Burns - one of the ones on my short list but have gone for Nutro Choice (no testing on animals and all natural) hoping that will sort the smelly farts! - if not, will be trying something else

I am not surprised he has won hearts, he really is adorable (even if he does pong a bit)

I am surprised he's not trying to pinch Marks beer Usually his nose is in everything!!

Sorry about this, am I correct in assuming the following:

This dog was adopted after he wondered up to the original 'poster'(?), and now he has a new home?

If so it makes me feel really happy, because it shows that there are still people with a heart and conscience.

We (me and family&friends) are somewhat active (as much as time allows... ) as far as it goes in adoption and helping abandoned animals in Portugal. Unfortunately we still have a long way to go in this country.

Like I said it is great to see that there are decent people around.

Hope all goes well!

Yes, Lesley.... I think he was used to children before he found us, because he has never once growled at any of my three or snapped at them or anything, all he has wanted is to play

He has only growled at Scoby when he has gone near him while in the middle of munching a bone

I have took the ball out of his mouth and he just wags his tail waiting for it to be thrown

He has been fantastic with my three and that's saying something, considering what Andrew is like

I think this is a fantastic story. So many people would not of bothered, and he does look a lovely dog. Considering what has happened, assumed abandoned, he is still so loving with people. Great stuff

Janspeed, he wandered into our lives and we looked after him the best we could, but it was impossible for us to keep him (various reasons) although we would have loved to have kept him

I really thought an owner would have come out of the woodwork and claimed him back - but nobody did

So we decided to look for someone who could offer him everything he needs He will have all that and more now he is with Mark and Cassie

We don't know the circumstances leading up to his abandonment...

It has crossed my mind that a tramp may have had him and possibly died (cold weather etc) and he wandered off?

Could be loads of reasons how he ended up like that, but we will never know, the one thing I do know though is that despite me pretty much scouring the UK, nobody claimed to be his owner....

I don't think he has been mistreated or he would be nasty, I would have thought. The vet said he looked previously well looked after and had got in that state from roaming, maybe she was right

Not necessarily. Both of the dogs I've had over the years (now long departed) came from a rescue centre and both had signs of being severely mistreated and abused Two more loving and friendly dogs you couldn't have wished to have When it comes time to wind work back and find time to give to a hound again, I won't hesitate to get another rescue

Glad it's all turned out well for Sonic, he looks like he owns the joint already

I think it's time sonic senior was re-christened Mr DK1 so we don't get confused. Let's face it's his proper title anyway

Can only echo what Janspeed says!

T5OLF, That is a great picture. We have no fire but he parks in front of a radiator regularly.

He was really good last night, Only whined for maybe 1 minute when we went to bed, did not poo or wee anywhere!

He did make the sofa his bed again though, although when he heard us stirr to get up we heard his collar jangle as he got off and went to his own bed. He is VERY smart and VERY cheeky.

Going to take him to the local common today which is Doggy heaven. The dogs he has come across on the walks so far he has been fine with so will see how he gets on when there is lots of them.

Progress report!

Been to the vets tonight, and Sonic has had a good check over, his chip put in and the first of his injections. 2nd one in two weeks. Current weight is 23 lbs.

The vet has given him a clean bill of health and agrees with the 2 years of age. Says he is as fit as a fiddle and apart from a couple of dried skin and old war wounds in great physical nick.

We gave him Sonic's known history and explained about his little problems (jumping up with feet on worktops, weeing indoors etc.) and he says that any dog will take at least 2 weeks in a new home before he is fully comfortable and free of nerves. He is getting better all the time.

We love him to bits, he is absolutely hilarious, full of energy, stupid yet intelligent, and so affectionate.Even after only a week, we could not imagine life without him. He is getting 2 or 3 walks a day, plenty of fuss and love.

The funniest thing he does is if he is out in the back garden and we have the outside light on, it reflects off his tag. last night he spent 20 minutes jumping after the reflection on the grass, stopping, twitching and then off again!

The change of diet (to Nutro-choice) has definetly helped with his bad ****. Last night he was presented with Liver, Pasta and Broccoli. Cheeky ****** picked all the Broccoli out, dumped it on the floor and woofed down the liver and Pasta.

Current wrecked list is 2 leather footballs, 1 tennis ball, 1 solid rubber ball, 1 big rope ball, the rope/rubber thing in the pics above but not one single piece of furniture!

Donna/Steve, PM me your full adress (again ) and i will get the old lead and collar in the post.

P.S, hope the big one had a great birthday!

Great news and a fantastic result

I wouldn't feed a dog liver, though, its far too rich for them and can cause long term health problems.

Find a decent dog food and stick to it

Nice, I don't really like dogs myself but I have to say I smiled reading the conclusion of this story, most heartwarming.

Have you taken him out in the P1 yet Mark?

Mark

Glad he is settling in well, I dont think we could have found a more suitable owner for Sonic Dog

Glad on the Vet checks too, we are missing him, and Scooby does seem a little lost with himself now, even though he is back to individual attention, he is a lazy tub of lard though

Although for some strange reason he has taken to barking at night after we have gone to bed, I think he is hearing noises outside now, and doesnt have the protection from Sonic Dog

I had to turn my outside light off, as he would keep running about to turn it back on, it only comes on for a few minutes, and he got wise to that

Glad no furniture has been ruined and only 'his toys' I told you he loves rubber

Chelley had a great birthday thanks, she got upset when you all left on friday, but I couldnt let them out on the street whilst you went, she was gutted she had to look out of the window to see your Scoob

Iwan, Mark came to pick Sonic Dog up in the P1, very nice motor

Mark, PM on its way

Brendan,

I onlyhave my daughter every second weekend . Sonic will get all the fuss he needs and more inbetween those weekends from Corinna and I. When Sophie is here and Sonic feels he is lacking in adult attention, Sophie will more than make up for it i'm sure.

///\oo/\\\,

I agree what you say about the food. Unfortunately (and no offence intended) every one is an expert. Even the staffy specific forums is full of differing opinions. Common concensus is a little bit of adult food as a treat now and again is good. We will certainly not feed him regularly on liver etc.

Iwan,

I picked him up in the P1, he was a bit nervous and confused on the way back and it was nothingto do with my driving. We took him the vets in the Mrs Civic last night. I put him in the hatchback but it took all of 1 minute for hin to clamber over and join me on the rear seat. He is not keen on cars but we have now got one of them harnesses that you put round him and a seatbelt goes through so hopefully will be better.

Steve,

He still remembers / misses Scooby. When i mention Scoby's name he looks at me all hang dog and sad.

Today was Sonic's first day on his own. 4 hours this morning and 3 hours this afternoon (my mum took him for a walk at lunch). It is also the first day he has not wee'd up a chair leg or stair etc....when i came back at 5.30 he was so excited to see me he promptly pi$$ed all over the floor and my foot!

Amusing story that will no doubt earn me a slap when the lady reads it...

Sonic has been really good and not tried to get up the stairs. He stands on the bottom step but because the stairs are open he seems frightened. After having my Daughter over the weekend, Monday was the first chance for any amorous activity

Im giving it the best **** star impression, being the daddy doggy style both of us facing to the bedroom door . Things are getting a bit vocal, and just at the the money moment, who bursts through the door thinking there is a bit of agro going on........WOOF WOOF! I'M HERE!!

Both of us absolutely cracked up. Now he knows how to get up there will have to make sure all doors are shut at night

A few more pics....5 mins in the life of a football which is now no more

Good to see him looking so happy and well loved - your little girl obviously adores him!

Mark, sorry to hear your daughter isn't always with you. When she comes round, make sure it's always her first though doors, up and down stairs, etc etc. In fact, I find kids quite like to play the game "I'm the Royal one, you're the servant"!

I've also been interrupted - fits of giggles all round

See where you are coming from now Brendan, good point and will bear it in mind

At the minute, with Sophie not here, Sonic is king and the little ****** knows it.
