rebuilt engine @ 62000 miles, rebuilt gearbox @ 67000 miles, front end respray, and 70000 miles in total. Not had an easy life really has it. Im with PSLewis on this one, 5k in my opinion for a 10yr old car thats had extensive work done is too much to be honest its got a flamer kit as well, it screams out that it has been ragged. I cant see the pictures but I would reckon on about 3.5K to 4K being generous
So.... let me get this right. Because it's had over £2000 spent on it, it's worth less? Where's the logic in that? Many STIs have engine problems due to the higher revving engines. I've paid for this work, therefore the next owner is safe in the knowledge that this has had the work done and that they are not waiting for the engine to go bang. 3rd gear in the classic boxes is also one that goes. Agian, this has been done so the new owner knows they aren't going to have to fork out for a new gearbox.

Well considering that a guy on here is actually considering buying a 1998 sti4 for £9K, anything is possible!
They are out there, so stick it up for £5000 ono and see what happens.

Cheers Chris, I'm very sure I'll get near to the £5k that I want and that I think the car is worth!
I've actually got somebody interested in it already at more than £5K!

Im not saying that it is worth less probably would be worth more, but if I saw that advertised with what you have had done listed then I would say it has had the *** ragged from it. The flamer kit doesnt help maybe its my age (31).
Just because these repairs have been done doesnt mean it will not need to be done again, otherwise why was it done in the first place if you see what I mean. Also I wouldnt use it as a selling point by saying that many STIs have engine problems due to the higher revving engines, it is designed to rev to that limit, thats why their is a rev limiter to prevent it revving above and beyone specifications.
If you have someone interested at over 5k then rip their hand off because personally I dont think there will be a great deal off offers.
By the way do you really need the SAFC when you have an esl chip?
I do hope you sell it and get what you want, if you are advertising it in the trader or locally, why not bounce different advertisments on here to get feedback

I am not having a pop at you, but the way you advertise it can make a hell of a difference.

Point taken I suppose! It actually went pop 4 weeks after I bought it! So it deffo wasn't me ragging it cos I was still getting used to the car.
The SAFC was in the car when I bought it, wired into the ECU wires. Didn't want to mess on taking it out so just left it in!
Nick.
edit - Plus, on another point, which Impreza with a front splitter doesn't suffer from stone chips? I'm yet to see one. They look awful when the bonnet and bumper is peppered with chips. All I simply did was to remove all of these so it looks in top condition (which it is!).
