The media is left of centre? The Grauniad is a bit, and the Indy is liberal but not left. The Mirror is left. That's it. The rest are right-wing or very right wing. Both sides attack the BBC which suggests they are probably pretty neutral, if a bit liberal (liberal does not equal left-wing: please look up the difference and help everyone). ITV is right wing. Tony Blair is right wing (if not very good at it). The only significant leftie in the current government is Gordon Brown, and he's not particularly left. And he's just about the only liberal as well. Just because people are left of YOU, doesn't mean they are left wing - a distinction Norman Tebbitt has always struggled with, amongst others.
And you won't be attacked as a racist just because you have a go at immigration for instance. For a start most Brits are on your side. For a second, you only get attacked if your comments are racist - which they may well be.

1975 and I have a rather good memory of my early years (clear memories of 3+).
I do apologise for not being a proper old git - Must apologise for having any opinions with such limited experience of life

hey, not moaning - just pointing out how most everything around us today is now framed by media and government within politically correct, left of centre parameters that brook little or no dissent.
for example, if you're unhappy with the EU, you get branded a little englander. if you're uncomfortable with the tokenism of lesbian and gay adoption, you're a homophobe. if you're pro-US, you're a neo-con. if you're pro-israel, you're a babykiller. if you're pro-hunting, you're a posh tw@t. if you're disappointed about illegal immigration, you're a racist. if you're irritated by the waste of 'fat government', you're a heartless, tax-slashing tory. if you're critical of elements of islam, you're a religious bigot. if you're anti-ID cards, you're soft on crime. if you want to see criminals punished quickly and properly, you're an illiberal dinosaur. if you're irked by sloppy human rights legislation, you're a fascist. the list goes on ...
when you're old enough to remember when standards, etiquette, integrity and common sense stood for something, then today's ideological rigidity - and the infantile, intolerant rejection of life's natural subtleties by those who should know better - is maddening.

What a bunch of victims!
Criticise the government or the media because it is never their fault - oh the irony.
Don't you see that's exactly what you are doing - oh my crap life is not my fault it's the government, media, religion, schools someone else's fault just not mine.
Sadly the common trait amongst victims is that they do nothing but moan, take no action, take no responsibility or 'get the hell out of here' to find it is just the same everywhere else because they are still victims.
Why not have the ***** to stand up and do something about it and make a difference rather than just crying like pathetic children on a bulletin board.
At least Leslie believes that things can change if you want them to. However I don't see everyone rushing in and asking how.
Let me leave you with this one thought - what would it take to stop asking,
"What is wrong with this country/government/media/religion?"
and start asking,
"What can I do to make this a better country/goverment/meda/religion?"

Si,
they may well be but the usual suspects moan on and on especially about the 'it's so **** here I am going to leave'.
It would be great to know what they are doing
Scatching? I am mirroring what I read day after day. When post with moderate language I am accused of being a 'PC puff'.
Have a great day

i'm talking about PC-infestation within media and government attitude NOT about the attitudes of the wider electorate. few of my observations apply between people. nearly all of my observations apply when applied to us through the lenses of media and government. this is broadly self-evident if you live here and look at things empirically.

Empirical
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
A central concept in science and the scientific method is that all evidence must be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses. It is usually differentiated from the philosophic usage of empiricism by the use of the adjective "empirical" or the adverb "empirically." "Empirical" as an adjective or adverb is used in conjunction with both the natural and social sciences, and refers to the use of working hypotheses that are testable using observation or experiment. In this sense of the word, scientific statements are subject to and derived from our experiences or observations.
In a second sense "empirical" in science may be synonymous with "experimental." In this sense, an empirical result is an experimental observation. In this context, the term semi-empirical is used for qualifying theoretical methods which use in part basic axioms or postulated scientific laws and experimental results. Such methods are opposed to theoretical ab initio methods which are purely deductive and based on first principles.
Empirical does not refer to empires (e.g. Roman Empire); it is sometimes used erroneously in this fashion. See Imperial as an adjective for empire.
