I blame the jap 6 speed for me not been in the 11s , afaik all the lads who put 6 speeds in there classics for the track have gone back to stronger 5 speeds , mainly for better (longer) gearing. But as I say I will keep trying, cheers Alan.

Same in the evo world, the 5 speeds seem to run better quarter times, plus like you said they are stronger, I thought though that the 6 speed was stronger in scooby's

My weight advantage and close ratio gearbox certainly helps my lack of power compared to you guys. I did a 12.43 at Shakespeare in 2005 in my Gtir RB running about approx 260bhp (0.1bar more than when I did a 12.7 with a proven 246) I'm crossing the line in 5th at about 6700, so already past peak power. 3 bust water hoses kept me off the strip last year.

I also did a 12.6 at Elvington (1.6 60ft according to their timing gear) with a major slipping clutch on the monsoon day when AndyF span out on slicks. (The clutch died the next day)

Not done a quarter in this one Alan, it was in your green car with the sloppy gear change

You do have an 11 second car there, for sure, dont forget when you got your 12.5 you had a slipping clutch.

Slipping the clutch will give you good 60ft times, but knacker your clutch.

12.5s 1.6s 60ft

That was at Avon Park, cold track and cold R888's...... car was spinning and squirming all through 1st and 2nd. Pity about the conditions and choice of car setup, as I was just starting to get used to 1/4m'ing again.

370-380bhp - Newage - 6Sp box

Who knows what this year will bring.

LOL, Alan was used to the sloppy gear change on his old green car, i wasnt

My car is about 20 metres from the back door , its been running since late november, i did a track day at Elvington on the 9th December, which was a hoot, 70+ miles of absolute madness , so it's ready to rock and roll again, although i need to put a new tensioner on it and the oil cooler before i do anymore track/drag work with it.

Time attack will be taking my spare focus this year, with the odd trip to a drag day or too.

With an absolutely boggo standard v3 type R, the best i managed at the pod was a 13.253@105.2 mph, 60 ft of 1.9something

Had a few mods, running 296bhp now (an extra 21 ) and best i could get was a 13.01@108 although couldn't get traction so 60 ft were 2.2's

Should make mid 12's i reckon if i can get a good launch, which i find dificult at the pod
