You will be okay mate. I too have one of each, an 04 wrx with *about* 270 bhp and an 02 clio 172. TBH there isn't too much in it and the clio handles very well. The only thing I cannot get along with is the seating position in the clio which is totally ****e . Other than that, massive car for the money

My TDi pulls much better in 5th at 60mph than my scoob, and I dont have to fanny about warming it up and cooling it down, and it's got 12k service interval, and my dog sits happily in the estatey bit slavering all over the windows, and my lil girl doesn't cry when she spills food and drink in the back - never give a kid a sausage roll in a car, you might as well just explode pastry in the back.

Nothing to do with anything, just felt the need to depart that information to the world.

Hmm, had to put my 5p's worth into the debate!

Coming from owning a Clio 172 Cup (without doubt the best hot hatch made to date - and before anyone says "oh what about the Clio 197....... believe me when I say it handles well but is ALOT slower than a 172) to being a recent scooby convert (WRX '05) I noticed the following (in my opinion):-

Renault
Renault is a better looking car (I want a scooby in Mondail blue!!)
Renault turns more heads when you're over taking (WTF is that!)
Not so many on the roads making it more noticable
Off the line there aren't any cars quicker (no standard costing less than £20k anyway!)
Have beaten WRX and STi's in flat out B road chases purely from handling

Subaru
Subaru is a far better built product than the clio (very poor in comparison!)
Engine efficiency on subaru compared to renault has no comparison
Impreza you can drive normally (just found myself caning the clio everywhere)
4WD
Turbo
That LOOOOVELY engine noise!!!!!!!!!

I'll shut up now but I'll just say this - if you're looking for a small hatchback pepped up shopping trolley then the 172 Cup is the true hero. If you want to look like a man and driving a bl**dy fast car then scoobs all the way!
