I got it on my gems, switches on/off via a little toggle switch but I was warned not to use it as it might end up costing a few quid in repairs later!

Would love to have it on my 93wrx but unfortunatly my Apexi Power FC ECU doesn't support it.
My mate used to have an Evo 5 with it on and had no problems, as he said its ok for occasional use, ie Track days or just showing off kinda thing.

Autronics ecus have antilag built in...just requires a mode switch in the programming and an external switch fitting to turn it on/off..

Some people also think that wearing massive gold chains, a hoody and a cheap and nasty track-suit looks the business.
Now, don't get me wrong. I am not saying that ALS is a chavy, far from it.
But I simply cannot see why you would want it on a road car?
Does it really make a difference? Is it just for the 'traffic light grandprix?
Also, if you are running a top mount intercooler, wouldn't revving the cars boll*cks off, and then gunning it, just create a massive amount of heat soak and lead to some very nasy det?
As I said, I can see the benifit of such a system, but only on a track, where the car is being used at 10 tenths!

BTW,boost threshold is the point in the rev tange when the turbo starts to make positive pressure.
Lag is where you come off the throttle and when you come back on you have a delay.

There probably aren't many drivers on here who would need and could effectively use an anti-lag system. Where in normal road use do you ever need to be changing gear so often that keeping full boost over gear changes is so important. There's certainly not many roads round here where it could be used and it's fairly rural.

Money well spent IMO.
I'd love to have ALS. Was considering GEMS/Motec when i had my ecutek, purely for the ALS reason. Went with Ecutek though
Having watched hundreds of special stages, i've always wanted my car to sound like that. switchable obviously.
Some people waste money on coke, hookers and beer. I'd do it on turbos and fuel
One day. It will be mine. muhahahahahaaa.
One question, could i swap my Ecutek ECU for a Gems/Motec/et all and just get a new map?

Have some of that:
Escort cosworth on the rollers with ALS - Google Video
There's a good vid, i'm sure someone will post with a classic scooby rally car doing a exhibition circuit with ALS, the one where he spins.
That sounds the dogs danglies.

ALS will shorten turbo life and is not necessary on a road car. Of course if you want to make a lot of noise, pops and bangs and getting people to look at you is your thing, then it could be what you want, even if it turns out to be an expensive experience.
ALS can help you off the line as you have some boost from the start and it can reduce any lag on a gear shift if that is a problem so there is an application in motorsport where a few hundredths of a second count. Drive a road car in a manner where ALS makes a difference and you are likely to loose your licence or worse.
If you have not experienced ALS and do not know the costs involved, your judgement on its benefits or worth are probably flawed.

Cheers Chris. If someone wants to run ALS on the road and can afford it then it is their choice but hopefully they will approach it with a degree of caution. They can balance their decision from the information available here or elsewhere so as not to be missled by those without firsthand experience.
