Kapake is a generic preparation.
Active ingredients are
30mg codeine phosphate
500mg paracetamol
Plus binders such as starch.
The Kapake brand has been licenced as a scheduled prescription drug for over 30 years and has not been banned, and has not been linked in any way to any form of cancer.
You will require a prescription from a doctor for this medecine.
More modest preps are available over the counter in the form of nurofen plus, solpaflex, cuprofen max.
All of these preps have 12.8mg codeine phosphate hemihydrate and 200mg ibuprofen.
Codeine is synthesised via the GI tract very effectively and binds to the opiod receptors in the brain and acts as a central nervous system depressant.
Very safe.

If you can't get to the dentist go and see your GP who would recognise an abcess and give you some antibiotics. Your dentist probably wouldn't want to do much anyway until the abcess was sorted.
When this happened to me I just phoned my dentist and said "I know your busy but please leave me some antibiotics to collect at the desk". Which I did and pain had gone when I saw him a few days later. I expect he was breaking some medical rule or other though

Well, it took three phone calls, but i finally got seen thos afternoon, 2 mins and he says, yep, absess..... great!
Anyways, the tooth is already root filled, and there's a butterfly on the back that is supporting a false tooth next to it, so, anto-biotics, and then in a month i go back and he'll cut the butterfly off, drill out the root filling, and 'try' to save the tooth.... i wouldn't mind, but it's one of the front pair on top.... mind you, if i do end up with 2 falsies, at least they might be able to make them look better than the crooked old mess i've got at the moment....
Thanks for the tips, the doc himself said paracetemol, then 2 hrs later take ibruprofen, then 2 hrs para....etc etc etc....
Mind you, i wouldn't want to have to take all of them....6-8 a day of each is plenty!!
Cheers!

Good to hear you are sorted
Had a check up today and was told I will very probably have to have my wisdom tooth removed (in hosptial) as it's half in , half out..
Only snag is that judging by the x-rays he took last time, the tooth is exceptionally close to the nerve, and there is a high chance of nerve damage, which would leave that side of my face permenantly frozen..
so do I put up with the pain and see if the tooth budges, or do I have the buggar removed and take a risk?
