Make way for Captain Sensible!
Think about the way you drive, the type of roads you use and the amount of traffic you endure. If you live in suburbia then the M3 with the flappy paddles will be very pleasant to live with. However, if you do lots of miles in heavy traffic have you considered one of the more powerful BMW diesels? Just as quick in the real world, softer ride, more understated and probably as good a real world car as you will find. Having said that, a while ago I was out baiting supercars in my Sciecento Sporting. After I eased off the M3 that I had just pulverised roared past bouncing off the limiter. It did sound mighty fine. Not as good as the Fiat, obviously, but still impressive nonetheless.

Sold my modded STi back in August for a e46 M, not looked back since great cars even better engine, It'll take you a while to adjust your driving style to suit but once you have they are very enjoyable to hustle along
Only bad point are the brakes, i find them over servo'd and very hard to heel toe smoothly, but I'm loving the challenge.

M3, SMG, 55, silver grey, Imola Red Nappa, 19's, sat-nav, tv, electric folding mirrors, armrest, etc
Fecking awesome day to dayer IMO.
New shed here, quick (poor) picks, as i went out to take a couple of shots of the MG before it went to the new owner.

LOL, @ quoting the BMW spec sheet from the website
You have made the right move. FYI, driving exactly the same, the m3 is proving to be more economical than the scoob was when i used that for everyday transport.

Mmmm i wanted the red leather, got the body colour i want though. Red seats look good from the outside but maybe a bit too much from the inside. Black is a bit dull
If we are putting pics up

Sat in a Convertible exactly the same, with black, and thought, nah, its too "bland"
The red grows on you quickly, it contrasts the rest of the interior quite well IMO. (its more a red wine colour than prostitute red , i dismissed it until i sat in the only car i could test drive)
