Came on the Intercom and told us about windshear and what it could do and how his plane had warned him it was around !

He then went on to explain he thought the monitor was knackered and he didn't want to go back and get it checked so he was gonna try again and turn the sensor OFF !

I'm not phased by flying at all but I was a little nervous on the second attempt .

I think the captain letting us know what was going on was definately a case of "Too much Information"

It was VERY windy in Belfast today, our work is right beside the sea and the surf was definately up, the wind died down just after lunch and all is calm again now but I think more is on the way.

At least we aren't getting the snow that Scotland have.

That's the one: windshear!!

There was an aircrash investigation programme about the airliner hat had been slammed into the ground by it on final approach.

They put a veteran pilot into a simulator and programmed it to replicate the conditions experienced by the downed aircraft. The footage was scary. The pilot went from being in control and unconcerned by some gusty conditions to being completely unable to keep the airplane in the air: he was sweating bullets and cursing in the simulator!!!!

Woke up this morning, looked out the window.About 3" Snow.

The wind picked up this afternoon ,but it did not seem as bad as what it has been around the country.

All the Snow has now melted, but it is forcast to come back again at the weekend.

Went to Leeds today and sat in a restaurant opposite an open air car park.

A large billboard was wobbling about for a while and then *CRACK* it fell over on top of two cars. It then continued to blow about a bit really making sure the damage was maximised!

Driving home I just missed having a tree fall across the A64 by a minute or two. Arrived to find it all over the road.

And Leeds city centre was shut by a bunch of police due to some massive scaffolding that had blown loose!

I used to enjoy landing in a good crosswind, very satisfying to get a greaser landing after an approach like that.
