Thanks for your replies fellas ... suppose I was hoping the vf35 [or 34] would would spool same as my 28, but more quickly fill the extra pipework of my fmic.
Steve did a great job of the mapping... bringing peak power down to 6800rpm and coaxing 320lb/ft. from it, again at lower rpm. but...the throttle pedal still has that elastic feel to it, compared to running the tmic, as it had when I fitted the fmic with the std. ecu in place... rotating manifolds and clocking turbos is obviously beyond the level I'm at now, so thought a turbo upgrade that shifted more air, more quickly might help.

Scoobyslammed... followed your project on here

If you're after 'more air, more quickly' a vf35 may be the way to go then.

My particular set up, also a V5 TypeR, makes your peak power at 4900rpm, and tops out at 6000rpm with 390hp. The vf35 is the smallest turbo I've used in 6 years, but in the real world the car is probably the fastest it's ever been - mainly due to the instant throttle & boost response. Type R's with no lag are mucho fun

Scoobyslammed - GEMS should be fine with those injectors... (I run 850cc's with 2ltrs and don't suffer any side effects)

Im not saying there would be to much problem... but we think the new ecu will work alot better with my spec... and I haven't got A adjustable FPR... i'm using a Cossie FPR... so all the adjustments for my fueling are done by the ecu...
It'll run super smooth with the new one on...

I ain't mapping it so its hard to explain...:-

but in thick terms... as I ain't no expert here

say my fuel graph at 3500rpm was 0.57 . . . but we wanted to add that little more... the next value up from this is 0.69 . . .
So... it sort of goes from one to the other... which ain't ideal...
Does this make sence...???
On my new ecu... if I need to increase it by 0.10 or 0.01 I can... I can just put in exactley what I want...

Now this is hardly noticable with the 440cc injectors in... but would cause abit of grief if the 800's were to go in...
Hopefully someone with more knowledge of mapping will come along and put it into the right terms... but this is my understanding of it...

The GEMS was fine for my previous spec... and its acceptable now... but i'm a perfectionist and have put alot of time and ££££ into my car... and something else has turned up for the right price...

We'll have to wait and see... it'll be worth it... at the end of the day its what I built it for... although the gearbox may well be another story lol

This sounds like what I'm trying to acheive... eventually...I take it that's a built 2ltr. hypoluxa? Fmic or tmic?

Did, at one point, think about the 2.5ltr. but having once owned an evo6 and been unable to get on with its (smooth) power delivery, I think sticking with the short stroker is for me

Also, not sure the 2.5ltr's. characteristics would be compatible with a typeR short ratio box, though stand to be corrected, of course
