There you go again Pete, talking out of your ****. Like most industrial disputes, the truth is never as black and white as the media makes out.
1 example. BA's Heathrow average sickness is worse than BA's at Gatwick. Perhaps, you say, all the "scumbags" work at Heathrow? Maybe, but I'll tell you that the majority of BA's long-haul operation is based out of Heathrow. BA @ LGW is mainly short-haul. Try spending 16 hours at 38,000ft, in 10% humidity, with 400 passengers coughing, sneezing, belching, and farting, all the while breathing recirculated air, and see what happens to your sickness record.
Just a though.
And no, I don't work for BA.

Striking is for lazy and the dumb. If you dont like where you work, why work there? If the pay is pants, why did you agree to join on that wage? If the way you are treated is pants, find another job.
I was working for an IT company from Oct 05 to July 06 and they treated their staff appallingly. I handed in my resignation and found myself something else. Easy peasy...
I am now happier than Ainsley Harriot when he presents Ready Steady Cook...
Striking is selfish. Inconveniencing the innocent public to make a point and in some cases risking the innocent publics lives (well done firemen)...
Unions should be outlawed IMO. Sack anyone who strikes.

lewis smells of ****, and as usual comments on things he has absolutely no idea about.
I would urge anyone who reads his posts to do so only to laugh at his ignorance.

Because of the nature of the job, it is strictly forbidden for them to fly with the slightest ailment. That's the reason for the figures, nothing to do with being work shy such as idiots like lewis make out.

So, they have ailments 22 days of the year ?
I know some of those will be long term sick, every place has those, justified and unjustified but that is like 10% of the available working days, most people on here wouldnt get away with that, regulations or not.
Now I dont take a lot of sickies but every now and again if I feel ropey I take a sickie.
I have had much less in the way of colds since I started eating more fruit, nuts and seeds instead of crisps chocolate and biscuits.

Try working their hours, crossing multiple time zones so your body clock always getting wrenched this way, then that. Then imagine coming into close contact with the great unwashed from all over the world. Then take into account that all of this takes place in a confined space with a pressurised, recycled atmosphere. It's a perfect recipe of catching and spreading all kinds of viruses. This means if they become potentially 'contagious' in any way which obviously they do often, then they have to go sick. If they are found to be flying when ill they are disciplined and could be sacked. They have no choice but to go sick.
That's the issue as I understand it, not lewis' bone idle ignorant accusation that they are all work shy 'skivvers'

Our place of work gets you in for a little chat if you have more than 10 days sick in a rolling year OR 3 instances of sick in the rolling year.
22 days is REALLY taking the ****!!
I have a relative who works for BA ....... it's a HolidayCamp Company apparently - good money, good conditions, good perks and 22 days sick leave to add to your normal allowance!!
The management are trying to pull it screaming and blubbing into the 20th Century!! (yes, I know its the 21st Century now ..... but, one step at a time!)

ps,
If true, have you asked his permission to post this on a public BB?
You have identified an individual and claimed to have broadcast his opinions.
You cannot know who will read that and what ramifications that might entail for your relative.

Not true. Find out about their regulations regarding working when ill.
Because of the nature of the job, it is strictly forbidden for them to fly with the slightest ailment. That's the reason for the figures, nothing to do with being work shy such as idiots like lewis make out.

Rather than alluding to 'flight regulations' which you know nothing about, why don't you try informing yourself a little before denigrating others? The simple fact of the matter is that certain sections of BA's cabin crew are work shy and simply taking the ****, with salaries that are significantly higher than the industry average (some CSDs are earning in excess of £60k per annum) whilst working significantly less. Have you ever seen BA CC working a six sector shift pattern whilst selling food and drink, duty free etc with a thirty minute turnaround - a la Easyjet? Nope, and nor have I.
Its strange how after EG300, average sick leave plummeted to less than 12 days for those who were signed up on those contracts and yet BA still has an absence record three times the industry average.
The simple fact of the matter is that a strong culture of skiving still exists within certain sections of BA which Willie Walsh is intent on stamping out - BASSA will not prevail in this battle and if they do, that will effectively signal the end of BA as its driven into the arms of venture capitalists - watch the CC squirm if that happens.
