This has bothered me now as this is not what my company is about.

I have just been on the godspeed website and have checked them out, I can honestly say I did not know about these.

All I was told is that they would be a good seller so I decided to make twenty kits up

Did see the price at £125 on godspeed - They are making very good money on these for what they cost to make, so I don't feel I am the one doing the ripping off .

All I can say is that is was not meant to offend anyone , and that I will not post and trade ads or groupbuys on Scoobynet.

Regards Chris

Chris, wouldn't bother about it too much, competition is healthy for the breed, as long as your product withstands the abuse then stand by it and keep churning it out

Chris , if you spend money on testing a product , then I guess that has to be included into the price of them , from what I was told they spent a couple of grand and a few months testing them on cars to make sure they work , and work safely , yes if you come along and steal the design without spending anything on testing them , you can sell them cheaper. which it what it seems you have done , I think Godspeed are now aware of this and will be contacting you in due course.

I dont believe that you can be given a product and make an exact copy of it , and undercut the people who's design you take without some problems , otherwise everyone would do it.
Thanks
James

Godspeed are welcome to contact me, i'll tell them the same as I told you . If a customer comes to me and asks me to make it for them I will. I am sure They didn't invent the idea for the brackets as I have seen different designs on scoobynet alone,

Checking out your posts all you seem to do is talk about Godspeed - so at a guess I say you are Godspeed,

Like i said all i can do is not advertise them on scoobynet and that is what i will do ,

thankyou

Oh god here goes another are you Godspeed , there's someone else that gets accused of that , no I'm not , just a happy customer with a front and rear kit of there's , and I am interested in this product as I just ran a group buy on them , and fitted one to my car ,

If you copy anyones idea exactly , I think you could be open to legal action , if you make up your own design then thats up to you as no one ownes the idea of them ,

Sorry but i disagree as there is no logo or trademark on them . If there was then I would have looked into it ,

And the Godspeed ones are a copy of what , all the other brackets I have seen are one piece alloy ones which fit to the opposite side of the backplate , like the Dyney ones , The Godspeed ones are the only ones I have seen made of steel with spacers , until your copies now , couldn't you come up with your own design then ?

Mine are made now.

I will not sell on scoobynet.

When I run out I will change the design.

That's all I have to say about the matter. Thankyou

Personally I'd be happier using a one piece item as apposed to a plate and spacers.

However, on the point of copying a design - they caliper can only be in one position in order to work - the holes in the extension plate can only be in a certain place or they won't work. Whoever makes the plate has to put the holes in the same place - you couldn't help but make a copy.

don't post much but I think this is fair and if know one else sell's the same item they can keep the prices as high as they like, whats wrong with a little competition, unless they know they're ripping people off and making a forture

Does Godspeed have a copywrite or patent? if not then there is nothing to stop another person/company from producing a similar item, same thing happens all the time, how many new build houses from different builders look the same and even have fittings etc., in the same place yet are from "different" designers

Jim , your right , there's nothing stopping someone else making a ' similar ' product , what I dont accept is blatently copying it exactly ,

If company A designs and tests a product ready to be used safely by the public , and its costs quite a lot to get to that stage , why should company B be allowed to steal the design , copy it exactly and advertise it cheaper without having to spend out on development costs.

To me it doesn't look good for company B's ethics , at least with the original supplier you are getting a fully tested product not a cheap untested copy , hopefully those looking to save some money wont pay dearly with a failure of the product.

Maybe Godspeed could sue you for compensation towards the developement costs ??

You really like godspeed don't you james, How much are you getting per hour?

I don't know how you can say we have a cheap alternative? As our's are in Fact Stronger ..

And you keep saying about how much has been spend to develop these wheh in fact it would most likely be pennies rather than pounds as the design had already been made long before Godspeed started making them ... Oh yes they were made out of thicker alloy before - Now they have been made is steel which is in fact half the cost to make ,

I don't really think you know what you are talking about as it has been pointed out that the holes have to be in the same position everytime .

I would like to see that court case I must admit ... No patent.. no trademark .. Just a plain bit of metal , Massive payout!

James you seem to be miss-informed!

The brackets I had made were not a copy of anyone else's design.
I did all the measuring and trial fitting.

AFAIK I was the first to make a bracket to fit the 2 pots to earlier cars!
The Godspeed (USA) brackets available at the time did not fit the 2 pot calipers. One of the guys on the first GB had imported them to try and they didn't fit!
But you would know that had you read the initial threads on the subject 3 years ago!

For the record.
The Godspeed brackets Ian now makes are not a copy of mine and look nothing like mine
