Back to the original question re piston slap - mine was not really noticeable at 30K, but bad enough to get a new engine under warranty at 45k.

PS I'll be doing more research next time I buy a car now, I think, just in case. HPI checks don't guarantee milage and service history!

My one-year warranty (EU import) is about to run out, and I'm just coming up on the 30k service. I'm going to take out a third-party warranty with a company who don't insist on dealer servicing. If I take it to a 'recognized specialist' (Scoobysport aren't too far away), will they stamp the book up with their stamp? I'm considering continuing to get the 100 quid services done at the dealer, mainly because they give me a courtesy car and it's on the way to work. 400 quid for a normal service plus changing the plugs does seem a bit excessive.

The price is right, as i phoned two dealerships, one quoting £417, the other £420 ( these dealerships are over 40 miles apart b.t.w.)
The 30k service is very large though, consisting of diff, gearbox, and engine oils, brake fluid and coolant replacement, aswell as sparkplugs, fuel filter and air filter.Aparrently it takes approx. 4hrs to do, and i know for a fact that the parts to do the service cost £300....`cause i`ve already bought `em B4 changing my mind and keeping the F.S.H. ...grrrrr .... mind you, they are all genuine parts, and Silkolene Fluids, so they`ll do fine for the 60k service
Like i said Dave, i know my stuff

Don't know what I did there
The post was supposed to say:
Well at least youv'e got 60,000 worry free miles, and you will find that very reassuring when winding the rev counter towards the red line.
What numbers the Terso and does it have any mods.

On a day like this I'm likely to ask the bloody colour.
Nice to see you back Dave, but you really shouldn't denigrate the monkeys like that
