i find it hard ot believe that delivery drivers would sooner write out a card with all the refs on and details , rather than knock and give it you

Pete, I cant believe you let all the local burglars know your house is rife for pilfering and no one is home, by leaving them a nice note on your door for them to see no-one is home

I got a delivery from City Link today, and they left mine with a neighbour, only they are 90 years old, and deaf, so I have to knock on their door, go back home, eat my dinner, put the kids to bed, have a brew, then go back to the neghbours, and they should just be about getting to the front door

I had a delivery from City Link the other week too, and they had tried to deliver at about 7.30am so they didnt hang about for me to come downstairs, they promptly pushed the card through the door, so I phoned em later on to collect the parcel on my way home from work, as its on the way

They said yes thats fine, just call round after 7pm, and your parcel will be waiting for you (they checked all the records etc first)

5 mins later D.K.1 texts me to say City Link have just dropped off a parcel for you LOL

The driver must have decided to take a chance at calling in again, so must have been passing on his way back to the depot, fair play to him, saved me a few quid in petrol

All pre 12 deliveries, stating: Do not leave safe/neighbour in the del instructions.

Was your delivery a Pre 9am delivery? If so it has to be re-attempted before 12.00.

If it was just a next day delivery, we can't card any addresses until after 9am.

Nearly all companies will only deliver to the address that corresponds to the card used. It's to try and combat fraud.

No it wasnt meant to be a pre 9am delivery, and it was re-delivered about 4pm

they told me the drivers are out from 7am and dont get back until 7pm

I wasnt bothered to be honest, in fact I was really grateful he called back in the afternoon

I need to move to your local branch, lucky if I'm out the depot by 8.15 am.

Liars IMO.
I'm not a liar Micky, when i have a £700 parcel on it's way - I'm damn sure I'm not going to go to the trouble by taking a day off work at even more cost to me JUST so i can wait in for a parcel that i decided later i could do without because i got bored waiting in... That would be very stupid

They do take the **** and it happens too often round this way, Ebuyer and the likes should stop using them until they buck this trend...

PS... I don't doubt that some do lie - and being in a service industry I know that can wear thin, but I ain't a liar and speak of personal experiences I've had...

Also my dog goes nuts when the doorbell is rung / knocked.

On the basis that a comma is very rarely ever used for the purpose of contraction where the second contracted word is the word "is", unless the preceeding word is a pronoun, your correction would more appropriately be that Pete's "retard" English was incorrectly suggesting the posessive.

If you are going to try and ridicule someone with your apparenty superior grasp of English language, you should at least do so in the most relevant context

You and Pete, what a couple you make

My local postie would leave anything bulky on the doorstep, even if it was a signed for item (he'd rip of the tag) if we weren't in.
I think he's been replaced now though as it doesn't happen anymore.

My apologies. My wording can go astray at time's. I meant it as a generalisation - not directly at you. I don't live in your area, so don't know what the staff are like at your local branch.

Off topic slightly, but Ebuyer's a funny one for the drivers at the minute. They send stuff out, say's 1 of 1 parcels on the lable and theres six parcels all the same. Then other times it'll say eg 2 of 3 parcels on the lable but only one parcel that day, and it doesn't come up that the other 2 are non arrivals at the branch.

What pisses me off the most, (I know for certain that it happens), is when drivers at my branch don't bother to attempt deliveries. I'm usually the one that has to get it in the neck off people who've sat in all day waiting.

Micky.

As Pete said, he had went out.
My nomination for one of the worst pieces of grammar I've seen on Scoobynet (or anywhere else come to think of it).

Cheers

Cool Micky - sounds like there should be more employed at City Link that are like you.

Too all those at City Link that are far less bothered / interested than Micky is, in doing a decent job of it

My sti interior arrived by Nightfrieght today
oh and CityLink successfully delivered an Ebuyer order today with no grief

Really?

(point above about apostrophe taken )

Examples please.

You'll understand, I hope, that I am not prepared to accept the word of a (school physics?) lab technician on such a point without some evidence

Quite happy to be proved absolutely wrong, of course, in which case I will happily admit to my mistake
