Whitby, sunrise at 7.33am, set for rain all day so the sunrise won't be glorious
Whitehaven (only west coast town I could think of in/near the Lakes) sunset at 17.13, rain through the day and 60% showers through the evening, so again, the sunset won't be too cracking
When I first mooted this idea it was for summer solstice on June 21st. Sunrise about 4.20am and setting about 10.12pm
Better chance of decent weather too
If you go, I'm sure you'll all still have fun

But to do it on the longest day of the year would mean setting off at about 2am and getting home after midnight!!!!!
