We'll be setting off around 08:30 ish from stockport, dinner is at 11:30 @ the Fenwick. Please look at the menu here: Fenwick Arms - Lunch/Evening Menus - fenwick arms, gastro pub lancs, best pub in lancaster, best food in lancashire, restaurant Lancaster, fenwick arms food, fine food in lancaster and let them now what you want before you get there. We've got space for 30 people, and parking will be just up the road at the village hall.

Will have to bring my two girls along, as baby-sitter other wise engaged just been looking at menu and there don't seem to be a childrens menu, they would both like a children sized sunday roast as they both are not big eaters, please advise do i need to phone pub to ask and also is there enough space for the two girls aswell.

 

If we do a cut off point for this thread say Sat dinnertime ,then one of us could ring our order through.....

Mark think girls will be ok having a smaller sized meal thats what i.m going to ask for,for Kaine.....

This brings me on to the Buttertubs Pass in North Yorkshire. Travelling from Thirsk at the eastern end, the temptation is to drive very quickly because it's a great road and, unless you like sheep, there are few visual distractions. But at the top, you just have to slow down.

This is because there's a very steep drop to your left and the barrier is nothing more than a length of B&Q hosepipe. But also because the view is just epic.


In other words, I'm a lout in places that have the topography of blotting paper and the colour of wallpaper paste. And I'm also what James May calls a 'Christian motorist' in places that are usually spectacular and bright. And I think I'm not alone.

 

One of my favourite Clarkson's is his main car driving directive...
