Is it just 'me' or does Janspeed come across as tho' he's*tasted* some of the power of the VAG and hes bitterly disappointed
in the performance of the legenday Scoob against it?? lost on a traffic light Grand Prix to a spotty faced urchin in a Furbie??
got outrun by a lowly Golf?
sometimes its NOT about the car, its about the size of the Kahuna's of whos driving..
*old addage* about dogs and fights springs to mind....

Obviously you do not know how to read.
If this is a Scooby forum you would think some more people would stand up for Scoobys . UNDERSTAND? Does not look like it!
Who cares about crappy German cars, there might be some good ones but you ARE stupid if you spend a lot of money on them bla bla bla bla....and so on.
There should be a online grammar and spelling corrector, not many 'people' who reply with those very witty remarks know how to read or write very well, let alone know what a fullstop or comma is.
Thank you
BTW I don't worry about VAG crap or whatever, my biggest worries are along the lines of keeping my beer cool enough (warm here )!

Leave it, Janspeed, it's not worth it. Many, many of the users on here are very negative about the marque, and I can't understand why. It's supposed to be a fan-site. You could sit blindfold in a scoob and start it up, and you'd know in a second what you were sitting in - that's character, that's what's worth enthusing about.

Chaps, i feel i should comment on this thread on the basis that i happen to have owned most of the cars that have been mentioned in it.
MY00 classic
Clio 172 cup
Seat Ibiza 130PD TDI Sport (basically a fabia vRS)
Golf mark V GTI <-----------current car.
Now, first up i know it is a bit of a cliche but they are all very different cars.
I think i would have to say that the best all round car is the Golf, build quality, interior space, running costs and the fun factor taken into account.
I think the scoob was the quickest out of all the lot,but once rolling i don;t think the Golf would be far behind. The ibiza was a torquey bugger but ran out of puff too quickly, a remapped one may be different, but standard it's game over at 4k rpm, mid range in gear was stonking, but you would just drop a cog on the others and it would be bye bye.
The Clio felt gutless compared to the others, and i couldn't get my head run the driving position and chassis setup. You sat on the clio, rather than in it, way to high, the build quality was rubbish and it wasn't even cheap to run. The Golf will do 37/40 mpg on a steady run and 30mpg round town.
I found the clio cheap and nasty, very skittish in the wet, inital turn in was good, but pushed on mid corner and intial body roll was a bit too much for my liking, also liked to ****** a tyre when braking hard.
Even with a r-sport ecu, filter and zorst i don't think a cup would get away from a mk v gti or classic, and i don;t think a mk v would stick with a classic in a drag race. Having said that i don;t know what affect and auto box would have on a scoob so maybe it would be neck and neck. Ibiza would be miles behind.
It;s not fair to compare a modded car to a standard one so in the interests of FAIR testing, based on my experiences in standard form in a drag race i would say
1. Scoob
2. MK V GTI
3. Clio Cup
4. Ibiza/Fabia 130tdi
If modded i would say
1. Scoob - Tek3 dp, etc (275bhp)
2. MK V GTI - Revo, filter etc (265bhp)
3. Ibiza/Fabia 130tdi - Revo, filter etc (185bhp plus the torque)
4. Clio Cup - rsport ecu, filter ect (180bhp)

Hectic, there might have been something pointed in your general direction, but mostly it is towards those who are negative towards the Subaru brand and simply are obnoxious.
Typing well helps, it should be basic for most people wether they own Scoobys or not! In fact Scooby owners should know how to read & write better because they are Scooby owners!!!
Personally if I were admin all the negative talk on Scoobys, be it by jealous morons or just simply hecklers would be moved to the bin or other sections.
Thanks

Ive never done a 'my cars better than your car ' thread on ANY forum ive been on no matter which 'Marque' it is.. whenever I have remarked on any of these type of threads its usuall to 'counter' those that know very little of the particular marque they are 'slagging'..

So you are telling me and Clio Cup would stick with a modded classic or modded MKV GTI?
I was referring to modified cars, you need to read what context it is written.

"Even with a r-sport ecu, filter and zorst i don't think a cup would get away from a mk v gti or classic" - The clue is in the quote, the context is the context is! No mention of modding the other two.

I can only assume that you're only about 5 years old.
For the record I have never slagged the cars off, but I don's start crying either when someone else does. ITS ONLY A CAR, try and remember that and you might get some perspective

No one's being pedantic. You surely don't have that short a memory? I used to have a P1, bro had a Cup with the same mods, couldn't shake him till 100?? Anyway this has nothing to do with a Cup, why don't you wait for another 172 Cup thread to jump on and give your OVER negative experience of it. My original post was merely pointing out what a 14.1s 1/4 mile car can do to the MKV GTi, just giving the original poster a marker.

personally I don't care what can or cant beat my scooby, I got mine because I love Japanese performance cars and for the money I had and cost of running the Classic Scoob came out tops.
It makes me laugh some of the things people wright about how my cars better than this car etc, face it there's always going to be a better car than yours no matter what you own.
At the end of the day get what you want and be happy, I love my scooby, its cheep to run (considering the type of car it is),it has its own look and its practical...oh and more importantly it still puts a stupid big smile on me face
