Ignore the above, done a bit of a search and its 1/8npt thread on the sensor. I'll have a look where to tap the intercooler... may be wrong but though the end tanks on mine where plastic now!

Cheers Rob.

Tony : The screw in pice carrying the sender is a plastic threaded bit so drilling and tapping the hole is not critical as long as the hole is on the small side..
On the STi 3 Wagon it is screwed into the TMIC housing just before the short black rubber joiner to the throttle body. I then applied Araldite to seal inposition and strengthen.
You could easily do the same in plastic but the loction needs to be in the air stream to the T.B.

On the WRX Wagon, the sender is screwed into the Hybrid hard pipe just before the T.B and again it is strengthened with Araldyte.

On the STi 6 Wagon, because of changes to FMIC pipework, the feed to the TB is of silicon so I put in a thin wall bit of aluminium tube which is also a joiner, cut a V in the joining silicon pipes and again applied Araldyte after drilling a hole that was marginally too small.

You should have no difficulty drilling and tapping into plastic as long as the correct type of Araldyte is used for the plastic involved.

If you want photos please e-mail me and you can put them on the board if you want.

Harvey,

Drop me the pics and i'll post them up, they will be useful for everybody to see (toe_scooby@hotmail.com).

Thinking about the plastic, maybe these just cover metal end tanks. I'll have to have a proper look tomorrow in the light but looking at the pics earlier in teh thread of the same intercooler fitted to a pre97 it looks like metal at the TB end???

Tony.
