Police now favour this after some we budget "reviews"
They put a little Fairy liquid in the water to make the nasty crim's eyes sting.

The Glock is one of the most versatile hand gun out there. They are known to able to be fired after the gun's been thru' water or burried in a hole.

Some of the officer's of the PSNI (Police Service of Norn Iron - formerly the RUC) use 357 Magnum's, they have a heavier handle for pistol whipping you with, apparently.

Based on what I've tried if I had to choose a gun to actually use to defend myself on a daily basis, it would be a .357 magnum. Ok they take a bit longer to reload and don't hold as many rounds, but I can be pretty sure I'll hit whatever I'm aiming at dead-on (which is useful IMHO).

A quick point for the "take themselves too seriously even though they are talking about guns" brigade.
Why the hell would you be carrying one around anyway or are you all paranoid seppos?

It is indeed a Barrett.
He carried the main body of the rifle, a buddy carried the barrel.
Then they put twigs on their heads and pretended to be a tree for days on end.
He was a proper Army weapons tester too- Sounded like fun to me.
That AAA gun is a 20mm vulcan isn't it? Tracks very quickly!

Bad comparison, he can cook. Unlike this rabble, every other thread lately is 'how long for a Rustlers burger', 'can you make bread with a bread maker?'...etc, etc..

Careful, Chip. Upset one of these bad boys and you're likely to find one hiding in your fish and chips ready to pop a cap in your ***.

I'm sure when someone asks what sort of ball point pen the police use, one of the office workers can give their opinion on that.

I am no gun geek (although i do deal with then pretty much every day in my job) but IIRC the police MP5 is single shot only.
I only know this as one of my friends recently went SF and during his beat up training he spent a day in some special armoury somewhere familiarising himself with the weapons commonly used by Sf. He said there was pretty much every weapon made in there, the armourer was a gun geek by all acccounts.
If your interested, my friend recently passed SF too, i imagine his job is a tad more interesting than mine now.

Yeah, they're all single shot - I *think* the only police unit with automatic weapons is SO19.
I'm a kit geek, not just guns.. but then thats what I get paid for!

I used to shoot handguns regularly when I was in a gun club at RMCS Shrivenham. Back then, full bore pistol shooting (at targets) was an Olympic sport and legal in this country. Being a military base we had access to most police/army weapons used at the time, and used to try them out each week.
I kept my weapons at the base armoury, and never took them home or off base. It was a lot of fun doing practical pistol competitions (running around shooting at pop-up targets etc), but sadly it ended after Thomas Hamilton f*cked it up for everyone.
I wasn't trying to be a 'gangsta' or anything, it was just a hobby like fishing or going to watch a footy match.

Handguns are by deffinition pistols or revolvers also known as side arms.
MP5's whilst standard issue to almost every police ARU or TFU call them what you want, have barrel lengths which put them into the carbine catagory.
