It was the rallying success, especially with Colin McRae with the Legacy. Even thought about getting a Legacy but it was just a bit too ugly. When the Impreza was introduced, the decisoin was easy!

I didn't even like them, was tempted by a wagon to fit the surfboards in. Saw the RB, took it out with no intention of buying it and bought it right there.

I couldn't insure an evo at the time.

Bought my first one because in 1999 you could get a brand new DBM classic for the same money as a 3/4 year old mint escort cossie which I had been looking for.Got fed up looking at cossies which were described as mint and were dogs and went for a brand new scooby instead.Bought my current one because I could not justify the big running costs of an Evo.

It went in the order of:

-Mcrae introduced me to
-the sound! which made me look at every one that went past until I fell in love with
-the look. I still remember the day I took my motorcross bike for some clutch work and a DBM classic burbled up. I swore there and then that I would own one one day.....

and now I do!

Kinda impulse buy -

Was looking for a Saab 9-5 Aero as I wanted a saloon with some performance and comfort..

Wandered past a dealership on the Saturday before new years, my brother went "ooh, look at that".. we did.. I had a moment of what I now call Five-Year-Old-Syndrome (because my inner-response was the same as all the kids you see getting excited, pointing at your car and nagging their parents to get one). I attempted to convince myself that the insurance would be stupid, came home, got a qoute, swore because it was actually reasonable, test drove it on the Tuesday after New Years. Bought it there and then.

I love it.

I'm in denial about fuel costs.

I had an RX8 before I got my new STI. Wanted to change and wanted something with bags of torque as the RX8 has none. So decided to get a new STI as you can't get much more torque from anything else in the same price band (except diesel but they don't count). Plus the STI is very tunable and the RX8 is not, yet.

I had a 1998 Civic 5dr VTi which went well and was very practicle for the children and going away camping. Was looking to replace the Civic but had to be at least a 4dr, sub 7 second 0-60, not much bigger than a Civic as was limited for space to park on driveway, newer than 1998 and less than 10k. Someone I work work with joking suggested the Impreza turbo. So I went to look at one, took it out for a test drive and was hooked. It's been my first Impreza and hopefully not my last. Love the power, handling sound and looks.

Because I wanted to race up and down the high street beating Nova's and Corsa's!!!! Nah, only joking, I love the surefooted 4WD, the midrange punch of a Turbo, and the ability to get the family in and out without a load of hassle.

sounds sad, but the two reasons i got my sport were...

1. the fact i could get insured on it for £1500 as a new driver

2. how many people have a scoob (turbo or n/a) as their first car, whether or not they can handle the power awd etc?

loads of people i knew were really impressed id gone for a scoob as a new driver. it gave me a huooj confidence boost, but now as i approach nearly my first full year as a driver, its all about the performance, and sound!

Cool

The main thing has got to be the engine! You fire it up and it just sounds the bollocks, and they way it rocks the car a bit when you blip the throttle.

Over the years i've had most types of performance cars going, and i always end up back with a scoob. It definately has a certain x factor that makes other cars feel boring and samey!

I also like the fact that it is a bit ugly, and not designed as a fashion statement (ps, i've got a bugeye!)

.........almost forgot. How good are the seats!?!

Always wanted one from early days, was put off by insurance, running costs etc. Finally saw one I just had to have at the right price - the rest is history

Like : The aggresive looking front end, the acceleration, the sheer grip

Dislike : The mpg, the fact that every acne ridden tw*t in a tarted up Corsa/Saxo etc. wants to take you on!!

Never have owned one, never will own one, ******* chav-mobiles

I bought my Legacy Turbo however, entirely because of Colin Mcrae's antics in the Rothmans cars Still got it 7 years later, and it still puts a smile on my face
