This is near where I live. I've driven that very road loads of times, and there's quite a few tight bits with adverse camber and all sorts of other hazards.

Why would the police recover it/ I assume they might if it was stolen, but if the owner crashed it, wouldn't it be up to the owner to arrange its recovery?
My assumption is that the Police Aware sticker is used to stop people phoning them about the accident, whilst it awaits recovery.

Police aware means just that, they are aware.
There was a Rover Tomcat flipped over in a field by me over new years, standing on its nose against a tree. Had a Police aware sign, was there for best part of 4 days.
