was 2003 and I was working for 2 mates in Edinburgh who had an import company, we had a yellow Type R come in and I got the job of takin it to Glasgow for its SVA. The car had a FMIC and aftermarket turbo to name just a couple of the mods, I have no idea what power the thing had.
What a drive !! I loved every minute of it and fell in love with the car straight away, unfortunately at the time I could not raise the cash to buy it and a bunch of lads came up from Manchester to buy it.
Andy, (my mate who had the import company) received a phone call a couple of weeks later from Manchesters finest boys in blue saying the car had been involved in some kind of illegal activities and had been written off. Gutted!! so wish I could have bought that car.
I dont know why (getting married and buying a house might have had something to do with it) but it has taken me until the beginning of this year to get my act together and buy myself an Impreza, my wee red WRX does not have the power the Type R had but I get the same smile and feeling of driving nirvana when I am behind the wheel.

My first Impreza drive was about 6 years ago, we had been looking at Evo 5's and 6's for a while when my mother in law wanted me to have a look at a Micra auto they had at the local Subaru garage when i saw a 98 turbo with PPP and full Prodrive body kit and i thought it looked amazing, the following day i took it out for a test drive and bought it there and then and Ive still got the same car and still get that same feeling every time i take it out.
To be honest i think this may be my one and only Scooby as im now after a MkV Golf R32 but ill keep the Scooby for a bit of fun.

re
It was the one we have now.
We had a succesion of dull cars, couple of old skodas, nothing special.
I said to the wife it's about time we got a newer car as MOT time was looming and nothing was gonna make it. So I was expecting to be looking for a Fiesta, or Micra or something, and she came out with "Welllll, I've always fancied an Impreza"!!!
I didnt know anything about them, only they were supposed to be a bit quick.
So, did a bit of research and found if youre going to do it, then it's gotta have a turbo. She didnt like the wagons, and couldn't afford anything new or special additions.
Looked in autotrader and found one not too far away so thought we should have a look, test drive, maybe that will put us off.
Saw it and the bloke hadn't even washed it, ever. Was filthy and the tyres were odd and bald, and had a slight oil leak, and there was some question over which number plate it should have on it, but, we were there so might as well have a go......
Damp country lanes, bald tyres, me having no idea what to expect I bimbled along for a while, then floored it.
It just went very, very fast, even with the rubbish hoops on it just gripped and went fast.
I loved it, the wife loved it and the man let us have it for a reasonable price.
That was 4 years ago, and we still love it!

Summer of 2002. it was a WR blue bugeye WRX standard. Delaer gave me the key for 30 mins and I left my licence with him.
I subsequently ordered my 1st car, arrived in May 2003, one of the first blobeye WRX's, soon had PPP fitted then several other nice mods.
The rest is history, today, I'm on my 4th Impreza, an 03 JDM STI.

When i was driving home from AndyF's after having Stage1 done (circa 330bhp)
Then i heard the full range of the Afterburner/Ninja exhaust and the car was a different animal.
First time i drove my classic, i was disappointed, it had less torque than my lancia, but more grip.

Sept 05 I think.
Twas the last car I thought I'd ever own. Didnt know anybody with one or who had ever owned one. Got stuck in traffic outside a dealership I'd driven past a million times and didnt know existed. Was looking to replace my 2.8 BMW and had been disappointed with almost everything I'd driven so far.
I rolled into the garage ready to be disgusted and the rest is history. I drove it round town at about 30-40 mph to see what it was like as an everyday car and was pleasantly surprised at how polite it can be. The salesman then took over, injected some heroin into the beast and scared the living shish-kebabs out of me on the back roads (oooohh those back roads)
It might only be a standard WRX on an 04 plate, but its mine and I think its great. I used to change my car every 18 months or so (much to the annoyance of my girlfriend) but Ive no intention of going anywhere else.
Come on you Scoobs.

First one I drove was a T reg UK2000 (then about five years old). I was actually a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I didn't mash the loud pedal enough, but it didn't seem like the quantum leap I was expecting after my 145bhp Mazda. It also felt wobbly in corners, so I eventually went the newage route.

First one as a passenger with a mate who was a complete lunatic.
I'd never been in an Impreza and really wanted one. Went to see this mate who just bought one. I jumped in the passenger seat like an eager child and another mate got in the back.
He lent forward and said "You've never been in a car with Rob have you?" with this "that'll teach you" face on.
Cacked my pants to our destination and back Pretty much made up my mind.
2nd time I ever got near an Impreza was the one I have now. The owner drove down the road and I drove back. Less than 3 miles I would say and I parted with cash on the driveway. Bit silly in hindsight but it is actually a nice straight one with all previous owners being SNet members.
Was quite funny. I handed over the cash, he said cheers and handed the keys. His misses looked at him, my misses looked at him and they pretty much said in unison "Aren't you going to count it?"
We left them to it while loading the spare wheels and exhaust into the scoob.
Tried parting with it for a special one (STI6 RA Ltd) but can't find a straight one and not really sure why I want, just do. As the price for UKs is a complete joke its not worth the agro to sell.
Looks like she'll be with me for a while

First one I drove was an L plate UK spec WRX that my sisters boyfriend owned. It felt gutless compared to my V6 cavalier at the time and I never though I'd own one.
He then upgraded to a bugeye and when I drove that it completely changed my opinion and my cheeks ached for days. Now I own one

The first Impreza I drove was one of the Royal London Hospital's Dark blue WRX's. I thought it was a legacy and had to drive it back to the hospital with the nurses from an accident on board . I put my foot down and that was it really ,I was hooked .A swift blat down through Hackney with the benefit of
lights and sirens and those nurses were like putty in my hands ( Well in my dreams anyway). I've now bought a classic wagon which is an up and down relationship .
