Exhaust complaints

You mean they are unhappy about your Sub-Woofer??
Or your loud exhaust??
Personally, if your music is booming as well as your exhaust you wouldn't have your drive blocked if I lived next door - you would have your **** passage blocked with a backbox and woofer!!!

Why would your neighbours want to borrow your car knowing fine well they wouldn't have adequate insurance.
As far as your exhaust being ok in your opinion dont you think you may be a little biased However as the thread goes on it seems more like a neighbourly dispute and they are using your car as a cause for anti social behaviour.
Give them the
If the car passes an mot then its ok so stand your ground.

Problem is if they are at home on benefits you cannot win any fight. They have nothing, they have nothing to lose. The state pays for all.
You however, are out of your home most of the day. They can plot and plan their attacks. Even if caught there is pretty much **** all that will happen to them....and good luck suing someone like that for damages.
Your going to have to make them like you if you want an easy life. Only other option is to have more scary friends than they have....but that's not something you want to start.

My contribution to naming Japfest at Gem's was Gemfest but I revoke!! On a serious note, does the layout and design of the two houses mean that your sound reverberates off your house into theirs? If so could sound worse in their house than you think.
I have had noisy exhausts (blitz R, scoobyworld, now have miltek) and have never had complaints but people have commented they hear me arriving or leaving. I've always been friendly with neighbours whether I like them or not. However, my neighbours would appear to be about 10 social classes above yours and I do sympathise with your no-win situation.

i had this problem with my *** head neighbours cause my exhaust was stupidly loud, sounded good though they threatened me with legal action over it and i thought don't want the hassle cause its decatted and if police started looking over it i could get into trouble as its a my01, anyway i have got a 5 inch magnex with a bung and it works really well, leave it in when i go to work an on my days off take it out and it sounds good, this could be a option.i would call the police if they keep blocking the drive

dont think your win either way to be honest ... there prob find other things to moan about .. why should you change exhausts if it's legal .. its all right having loads of scooby owners around ... but they would make your life a living nightmare .. but i'm pretty sure 99% of members on here would come and help my full decatted with after-buner is very loud ... my neighbours use it has a alarm clock in the morning at 7 a.m. .. no complaints yet ( touch wood ) as said in a previous reply if you have a dropped kerb and there parking over it .. there breaking the law not you ..
good luck

try this
get your car on your drive somehow and wait for them to block you IN
this is an illegal offence to block a car in on a drive, thus you can ring the locals and have the car towed and if they are tramps as you say they cant afford to get it back,
then install a fake cctv camera at your car to put them off keying it

Thanks for all your replies the exhaust was due to be checked today, on the advice of members unfortunatly early this morning my car alarm was set off as some ******* put my front screen through and dents on the doors police finally arrived and were a waste of time as there were no witnesses to say that the neighbours had anything to do with it, this is stupid I pay my tax insurance and make sure the car is safe but now have to pay for a layabouts sick buzz

i think you need to go round there and burn "tossers" into their lawn with some bleach???
No witnesses though of course to remain consistent with their antics.
Sure there are several thousand willing alibis on here lol ( joking of course at all the above )

If you don't have a standard exhaust system then they are free to complain, unless you can proove its not much louder than stock, and lets face many Jap tuner style boxes are silly loud (- depenning on brand, of course) so even though you may think its ok, it may well be not to others.
The second thing is leaving the car idling on the drive or outside the house; Turbo timers and letting car warm up or cool down: DON'T DO IT. My neighbour does this with his skyline (non stock exhaust- of course) and it does my fruit in. As it is not needed, its a waste of petrol, and the exhaust note at idle rattles the ornaments on the windowsill (seriously).
Leaving the car idling will aggrevate the situation alot more.
I can't comment much on your neighbour's attitudes; I suggest if they are kicking up a stink over nothing and they are responsible for the vandelism and really are dole leaching scum: move to a nicer area. If its not the car, it'll be something else being a "problem".

Move.
As Luminous said, you've got eveything to lose and they have nothing.
Get away from jealous low life scum like that as quickly as possible. Move in with a mate and rent your house out to DSS - that should ensure theres equally dubious low lifes opposite your current low lifes and pop round now and again to make sure they are killing each other.
You might even make a bit on the rental. You can't win so don't fight them and don't take it - move.
PS - doesn't help your situation but I bought a H&S jap style soley on the basis that it would pi$$ off my neighbours becuase I feckin hate them. Didn't get one complaint. In the end it was me that couldn't take it anymore and swapped it for smething quieter. On the plus side they are moving away this week

Then follow it up with a USB CCTV system from maplins to have proof when they do more than block your driveway.

Another use for cctv - report em to the benefits office they are probably claiming on the sick.
Sounds like vandalism on the car if nothing was stolen so have to be prime suspects. set up a camera in your window and nab them!

Just to let you know, you have to be careful with CCTV.
I was told by a policeman after someone let the tyres down on our car that if you setup CCTV and you have a neighbours house/car in shot, it might not be useable because it involving the neighbour in some way.
Sounds complete sh$te but seriously its what he said.
