Religious aspects aside, the decline in a contract made by two people in order to live together and raise children together has led to the destruction of the traditional family and this is one of the main reasons we are seeing so much trouble with young people now.

This deliberate encouragement of the lowering of moral standards and the increase of social degradation has done nothing good for this country.

As Kiwi says, unfaithfullness is also selfish and the ruination of a relationship.

I state the above as being facts and it is not meant in a judgemental manner. I don't absolve myself from any kind of blame but speak from my experience of what I have seen in life.

I reckon that most men are pretty much the same around the world. Some are a bit backwards because of their country/culture/religion, but generally you'll find adulterers and arseholes everywhere because of human nature.

When I travelled through the most populous Muslim nation, Indonesia, as well as Malaysia I certainly didn't see any evidence of bad attitudes to women. Also the few Iranians and Pakistanis I know are very respectful of their families and wives.

You know, as well as i do, moses, that a converted woman in the Western world doesn't have to endure anything like the same level of repression that a woman unfortunate enough to be born in a native Islamic country does. Or if you're in any doubt about that, maybe you should pay one of those countries a visit sometime to remind yourself of the disdain with which women's place in the community is held. Just an idea.

Now I'm no C R Rao but even I understand probability. Even if you add up all the numbers of people involved in these events, what proportion of the Muslim population do you think that represents please? Therefore what is the probability of any Muslim person being a terrorist or whatever?

This is my one real gripe with anti Muslim posts on SN: that they take the lowest common denominator and judge the whole. People who do this are either not very clever or have some axe to grind, IMO. Which one are you?

You refer to yourself as an Atheist, that's fine by me, but I am sure a very quick Google of 'crimes committed by Atheists' might produce a couple of interesting results don't you think?

I am sure we can call Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun, you name them, as either Atheists, or men who have turned their back on religion, like yourself. They have the blood of a fair chunk of humanity on their hands I'd say.

As regards marriage and fidelity, I know lots of Muslim people, most of whom are married, with kids. Most of them seem to stay with their partners also and appear faithful. I don't know any terrorists mind. You say you have Muslim acquaintances, do you know of any terrorists among them as opposed to butchers and bakers? Are any of them married with kids? Would you say their rate of infidelity was any worse of any other group of people?

Overall, would you say that perhaps more Muslims are married as opposed to being terrorists?

So, less of the sweeping generalisations please. It is not becoming of a man of your obvious intelligence.

One last point, if you don't like Moses' threads, don't post on them. He is clearly baiting you and succeeding. You are helping to perpetuate the very problem you and others are complaining about.

Back on the original subject of marriage, there are a lot of couples 'living [in sin] together' with kids in the Netherlands and as recent UN stats seem to bear out, the kids here are the happiest in the world in spite of it. Integration really is the way forwards, try it some time.

Did it ever occur to you to question those who would judge you by your skin colour alone? You seem to have a big issue with this. Instead of trying to get all those people with brown skin to conform to what those with white skin want, why not try to get people to look past skin altogether?

Perhaps you are taking integration a bit too far?

Did it also ever occur to you that those who wish to hold you and 'your kin' back, want to do exactly that regardless? That they use the general perception of Islam as a convenient excuse for that?
