sold the scoob back end of last year. Unfortunately i do a lot of miles due to my birdwatching hobby and photography of said objects. so i was left with a choice, i can either get to my destination and have a lot of fun getting there or i can sell the scoob and buy something cheaper and use the funds to buy a camere lens (£4500 - canon 500mm F4 ) but obviously still get to see the birdies.
i chose the latter, got myself a little golf gttdi and a geet big white lens. i did make the right decision but should funds ever allow then i would jump back into a scoob at a minutes notice.

Back on track - not many replies from people having sold - hardly surprising this being Scooby-net.
Must admit when I see heavily exterior moded cars it does make me want to move on. None of my friend have ever taken the mick out of me, but they did point out some of the less agreeable image traits of the cars and I admit to being completely naive to this before they did.
I got mine for performance per £ with 4 doors (boss said so)
The 2 friends (who pointed out the downside of image) I've taken for a ride and they were both amazed.
I hope I only have to move on when I can afford to move up. Something like doing the 5th Gear Lotus PROPERLY.
These cars are our hobbies - you have to factor that in to someone who drives an A - B car and dives, fishes, mountain bikes or something like that to the cost question.
As for costs. My company Focus cost the company £1000+ at 1 service. As a DIY and eBay bod, Impreza's are peanuts compared.

1. Are you financially better off?
No because I got an M3 that was depreciating far faster than a Scooby and then bought an Evo because I was bored.
2. Do your friends still laugh at what you drive?
Yes they thought the M3 was a drug dealer's car. And the Evo is equally stupid like the Scooby.
3. Will you be buying another one?
Might have another Scooby in future.
4.Are you glad you sold up?
Not really as the M3 was a huge disappointment and the Evo is just a different compromise. For the money, the things I learned and the fun I had out of it the Scooby was brilliant.

If you have gotten out of Subaru ownership in the last year or so?
Are you financially better off?
Do your friends still laugh at what you drive?
Will you be buying another one?
Are you glad you sold up?
My answers ......
1. I am finacially better off by a country mile
2. Yes my friends still laugh at what I drive, but now it's only because it's cheap clutter. No longer can they take the mickey out of the ironing board stuck on the boot or the fact there are a family of Gypsys hidden in my exhaust.
3. No i wont be buying another one, I have grown out of them
4. You're damned right i'm glad I sold up, get more of a buzz driving my new car.
What about you?

My answers
1: I'm no better off with my current car, probably worse I still can't believe people sell their cars to buy a house etc, they aint exactly a money pit if your sensible, leave it standard and have a fairly new one. Cars cost money full stop so down grading i see as pointless. Whats an extra 20, 30
50 quid a week gonna make
2: No
3: I will never buy another subaru again! Grown out of them, they have not got the image they once had and they are boring to drive
4: I should of sold up alot earlier than i did, got more fun and pleasure out of a 150bhp MX5 than i ever got out of a 400bhp scoob

1. Are you financially better off?
No, I now own and run 3 cars.......although I never sold the Subaru as it cost to much money, I sold it becuase it was slow.
2. Do your friends still laugh at what you drive?
Nope, haven't got any friends.
3. Will you be buying another one?
Never
4.Are you glad you sold up?
Yes, the Impreza WRX I had was slow, rattly, crappy brakes and it cost a lot to run (Tyres, brakes, petrol) considering it was no faster than the new breed of hot hatches

At the end of the day if you don’t like what you are driving or find it too expensive to run then change it, but there’s no need to slag it off. I have had more performance cars than you could shake a stick at including a 6R4 for f**sake which was an impossible car to run but enormous fun, an RS500 Sierra (how chav do you want to go) a 2.3 HSR 'Chavette' (yep I’m old) and RS Escorts by the tonne and I can honestly say I enjoyed them all and never slated any of them after parting company with them.................except the HSR that was just crap
I'm sure sooner or later I will tire of shoving fuel in the scoob like I’m tipping Guinness into Johnny Vegas but that’s life, all I will say though is if you want to drive a car that does 0-60 in less time than it takes to fart and tops the 150mph mark then don’t expect it to be cheap to run or insure.
By the way no-one I have ever spoken to has laughed at the scoob in fact they all want a go in it, so the next time someone gives you grief ask them what they drive? its normally a 1.4 noddy mobile (its called Jealousy folks)

That doesn't make sence, I don't know about jealousy
They are welcome to look down their noses at me, I'm not effected by jealousy of ones possessions. I'm jealous if someone is faster around the 'ring than me.....and in the case of Ferrari and Lamborgini drivers, there is little to be jealous of.
In fact it's nice that they come and talk to you afterwards......I reckon they are jealous of me

beating many a modern car!!! Like the F40 picture above? Does the Guy in a Ferrari need to prove something??? Is it worth slightly more than a 17 Year old Porche 944 does it really need thinking about? You may be good on the Ring then perhaps you should be how many times have you been?

Shock horror - guy in £160k car takes in easy on a wet racetrack

Northloops doing just fine thaks for asking
To be fair to the F40 driver I thought he was nuts to even go out in the wet - especially with Pirelli P6000s ditch finders!
I don't dislike Imprezas, just their owners
...well the standard cars are rubbish, the Sti is still quite a car.
