One of my all time favorite cars, being used in a place it was designed for
......I still have to question why he was driving on such shat tyres. Of course the size may mean there is not much choice

If you have gotten out of Subaru ownership in the last year or so?
Yes, sold last Sept after nearly 3 years of fun.
Are you financially better off?
Hell YES ! Just on fuel, tyres and brakes the Scoob was costing me over £100/wk, it's replacement now earns me several hundred.
Do your friends still laugh at what you drive?
I laugh at it, when I'm not spitting at it. Will be replacing it with something less embarrassing in 2 weeks.
Will you be buying another one?
Only when my mortgage is insignificant and I can justify something very special. Or I might just get a cheap one for the Hell of it
Are you glad you sold up?
No I had about 1 year with it where it was simply as good as a WRX could ever be, but I wish it was 10 years. A little more power would have been nice, but the handling was simply divine. I almost cried whilst gliding through a corner at over 140 the day before I handed it over.

My views on driving wouldn't go down to well with people on here either.
I'd say just drve the fukcer, and they'd reply that before track days they need to do loads of useless mods......like an antilift kit, geometry, cocklink, etc.
When in fact theat won't make them enjoy driving any more at all

why let geeks and chavs get in your way over getting another one.
Buy the car for what it is and dont give two ***** what other people are doing.
your comment is stupid to say the least

Oh ffs I contribute to a thread, give an opinion and all of a sudden I'm a keyboard warrior..I'm 45 for crying out loud drive an Impreza and I'm a little bit embarrassed by it .
The thing is sat in my garage and has been used twice in the last month.I bought it new 2 years ago, almost to the day and dread to think how much its worth today

Right. Thats it!
I have the answer. Car makers! Never make another performance car for less than £60,000 ever again, because after 6 months people will whine that its "chavvy" and "embarressing".
Hell, the politicians don't have to do anything to prevent people on a semi-decent wage actually motoring for the enjoyment of it, rather than need, with some of you lot about!

Agreed.
If you don't like the car then it's not worth keeping it.
Embarrased? Can't really see why? Why let others opinion of what you drive affect your choice.
You might be happier when you sell, but i'm sure there will be times you miss it. (Maybe when you're away from your friends and are enjoying a good drive)
I am lucky enough to have friends who respect my choice of car, and in turn respect their choice.
FWIW my brother and a good friend of mine recently used my car....and they have both now bought WRX's of their own.

I like the car,luv it to death in fact.I just can't live with its current perceived image...can't afford to sell it either so it sits in the garage untill I drive it to Switzerland next month

I really don't get what this supposed image thats meant to have suddenly appeared overnight is? I'm sure its just in peoples heads prompted by some sort of self-imposed snobbery.
Every car similar in spirit to the Impreza has had EXACTLY the same image!!
Some sort of bizarre snobbery that dictates a car that costs less than £50,000 can't be a performance car without having the era equivilent of "chav", "boy racer", or "lout" attached to it.

I just don't get it personally.
If you were driving some blinged up R5GTT with flippy paint, ugly bodykit and 24" wheels then I might see where your coming from.
But a standardish newage Impreza? okay, its a pretty obnoxious looking car, but it can't be accused of not having character - and, speaking personally obviously, I'd rather have that than a by-the-numbers offend no-one bore you to tears TDi Passat (or similar!) which no one will remember for more than 5 seconds after having driven past it.
I can't see how driving an impreza is any more/less embaressing than driving a more "prestigious" marque of sportscar - unless the opinion of pompous suits who wouldn't know how to drive a performance car even if they had Colin Chapman provide them tuition from beyond the grave actually means anything to you.

My answers ......
1. I am finacially better off by a country mile
2. Yes my friends still laugh at what I drive, but now it's only because it's cheap clutter. No longer can they take the mickey out of the ironing board stuck on the boot or the fact there are a family of Gypsys hidden in my exhaust.
3. No i wont be buying another one, I have grown out of them
4. You're damned right i'm glad I sold up, get more of a buzz driving my new car.
What about you?
