but cocaine isn't as widely used as alcohol therefore there's bound to be less fatalities. just because its recreational doesn't make it any safer, its still highly addictive there for dangerous
there both class a drugs for a reason, cocaine can be easily turned into crack.

Well what a surprise, its all Labour's fault as ever
Ever thought that maybe they would have 'shot up' (no pun intended I'm sure) anyway or maybe the fact they are 'known' is down to better detection and recording of these offences? Not saying that is the case, but you just can't help yourself with the NL thing can you?
As for the rest of your post you seem to miss the point being made. I (and others) are not necessarily trying to rationalise drug use, just simply saying it isn't as black and white as certain sections of society would like us to believe. I would strongly argue that from my personal experience of the people I know who have used coke against those that smoke that so far nicotine has been the more damaging.
As for alcohol I had one school friend who became an alcoholic, but also know plenty of other people who while not alcoholics cannot go a few days without a couple of drinks. Does that mean we should ban alcohol? No, of course not as like someone else said, the drug is not the problem, the people are.
Hence maybe the time has come to accept that people do use other drugs these days and find a better way of helping and advising those that do have a problem with it. Just a thought.

As for a better way - how about stopping the flow of the drugs - stop the users getting them at all!?? I find it quite incredible that a very large percentage of burglary-type crime is done by drug addicts out to get their next fix and then, when they get put into prison, they can still get drugs there? What the heck is society coming to???

On the Nu Labia front I just came across that table. Can't help it if the figures shoot up (no pun intended ...) after 97! Any reason why you suppose? Maybe it's pure coincidence?? (I truly did not set out to reply on an anti-Nu Labia vein - but the table is from a gov. website ......).

Secondly of course a percentage of crime is commited by addicts looking to get their next fix, but that applies to not only hard drug users, but users of cigarettes and alcohol as well although these being cheaper the crime is less prevalent. Maybe if certain drugs were less expensive and more easy to come by the associated crimes would drop.
Serious question. Why are you so vehemently against drugs? Do you really think coke is that bad? Given that if you go out and have a few drinks regulalrly you are using a drug that in my eyes can be just as harmful and also given that you are probably stood in a pub/club where several of the people around you use coke.
Not having a go, just interested in how people perceive drugs in today's society.

What a fantastic utopia

180 years for a dealer of any quantity would suffice...I prefer the idea of chopping off their hands... Pretty tricky playing with scales when only being able to use your feet and chin...

NOT too steep at all...its not 'just charly'...its cocaine, the **** that CRACK is made out of, the fuel of nutters......if you ever meet crackheads you'll know just how evil the stuff is, and 18 years is wholly justified. The sheer scale of the importation meant the sentence is not disprportionate.

Sorry mate your wrong, most bag heads (herioin addits) are looking for a easy fix a bag costs them £10 a bag of coke costs them £40 so none of them would go for the coke option.
Also herion gives a total diffrent feeling to coke, why would a herion addict change, i know people from both addictions, i see what they go through daily.
Luckily im not a addict to both but i can see which one is worse

I think there are obviously a good few people on this thread who take drugs themselves and are frantically trying to justify it, maybe even to themselves as much as anything. If that is what you want to do, that is entirely up to you. The term "recreational" is a fairly modern word for them and to my mind is one of those ways to make it look more acceptable in Society. I hope you are fully aware of the dangers of course and what it can eventually do to you. It is so easy to damage yourself with the things you do or eat etc. and the problem is that the effects can be slow and difficult to realise until it is too late to recover. All very well to say that it has had no discernable effects so far, but later in life when it suddenly catches up with you, you may well think it was not worth it after all. Smoking and alcohol are also just like that of course, and I fully admit to the dangers there too. It is not that many years ago that it was not realised that smoking is a major cause of cancer and its not up to much if you have to sit in front of your doctor hearing him tell you that what you have is incurable and how long you might have left!
It is no answer to say that you don't want to live until you are old-your will to live is just as strong even in later life.
We do now realise the dangers of smoking of course so we can make a decision with full knowledge. Same with alcohol, taken in moderation it will even do you some good, but going out on the binge is going to finish your liver off and not necessarily all that late in life. New livers are not that easy to come by, and without one you are history!
I still reckon from what I have seen and heard that drugs can suck you in far worse and cause much greater damage more quickly. Even Cannabis(Skunk) is some 10 times stronger than it used to be and it can really screw your head up causing schizophrenia and also is an obvious lead into class A and B drugs. The biggest danger is to very young people who are led by their peers and are more likely of course to be totally hooked very quickly.
This is why I criticise the dealers so heavily. They know what they are doing, and don't give a stuff for the people who they set off on the road to complete degradation and possible death as long as they make their money. No one can say that what they are doing is not morally wrong to an extremely high degree!

Kind of you to say so, however I stick by my original post anyway, and the other thing is to make the point that you have no idea what newspapers I read!

As to the rest of your post I agree up to a point about your opinion of the dealers, but then again they wouldn't exert the influence they do if certain substances weren't treated the way they are by society and were at least decriminalised to some degree. Somehow, though, I am sure you are unlikely to agree with that.

i agree its bad but inly cause its 40 quid a pop! im not trying to come across bad *** or streetwise and certainly not trying to act the man but just saying how it is! once a week i like to sniff coke! its my escape!

I read a snippet in a local rag yesterday that an 8moth old had swallowed an E that was dropped by a babysitter!
The baby survived as the sitter called an ambulance...frightening stuff!
