I see the NCAP comments on the Q7 state "Poor welding resulted in rupture of the footwell area. There was separation of the seam connecting the firewall to the footwell and failure of spot-welds in the footwell and its connection to the A-pillar. Audi have informed us that they have now improved control over this part of production but the car lost points for its performance in this area. Structures in the dashboard presented a potential risk to the knees and femurs of the driver."

I know that road, it is indeed possibly one of the straightest in Cheshire, I suspect this is why she lost concentration.
Agree on which is better to have a crash in, regardless of Ncap scores.
Is there any possibility that this woman is the one that tried to shoot you last year ?

NCAP means next to nothing. The french engineer their cars to manipulate the NCAP tests. They then plaster ncap results all over their adverts to give potential customers a false sense that french cars are build to high standards, and are high quality vehicles.

been docs again today, my neck hurts, but not as half as much as my back. im havong to lie down on the floor to seek comfort.
ive looked at my car more carefully:
both exhausts folded and warped,
various other metal bits deformed under the car,
bumper split in several places
the rear door flap now has to be pushed down and when up it dosnt sit flush with the top part.
left rear door has a wider gap now.
im going to a propper solicitor, dispite one of my friends is bestmates with the CEO of Claims Direct....i think ill get more. i might as well if im gonna be in pain. ive always been the one to disaprove of these people who claim when they arnt really hurt, but this sucks.

Yep, my grandad had a drunk hit the back of his car in the seventies and still complains of pain in the morning that resulted from it, not sure how many stars a Chevette has though ?

I've had whiplash so have an idea of how the original poster might be feeling. I didn't play squash for 5 years as a result of an accident in Germany and got almost diddly squat in compo after a long wait.

French cars are naturally safe as you typically can't start the bloody things and never get involved in an accident in the first place!

Best of luck HighTower.

People slagged Rovers off and didnt buy them due to reliability, (and other reasons), ts amazing how a bit of prestige convinces people to buy stuff even though it isnt actually that reliable, i.e. Audi's, Mercs and Beemers.

The thing is, the main dealers (all marques) just throw parts at problems in the hope fo fixing stuff. They bill at their extortionate £100+ p/h labour and use parts marked up in price.
Use a decent independent and they'll charge half the labour, fix the problem rather than throw parts at it and do a proper job.
You'd be amazed at how many cars have full main dealer service history yet once you look at the servicable items (say filters, spark plugs etc.) you find they haven't been changed or checked in years.

Not good but its a case of bad luck. They are not sure of the exact cause but water has leaked into the boot area over a substantial period of time and has now filled to a level where all the computers have become a water feature. In total they are changing every part in the boot (about 10 of them are computers) and the entire wiring loom as it is rusty !!!!!
Going to see them today to do a part ex deal on someting as I know the car will never be the same. Looks like a 535d is the answer And before anyone comments the entire boot floor as the user sees it is bone dry. Its only when you lift the floor up you find the water.

Sorry to hear about the injury, but I feel that the fixation with NCAP ratings is getting out of hand. To quote the impeccable AL:
The french engineer their cars to manipulate the NCAP tests.
All companies are doing exactly the same!!!
The Marketing department need a 'story' to 'spin' for any new car, the company probably wants to try and make a profit and the engineers know the tests that NCAP will subject the car to. Thus the car is designed to allow them to score well in those exact tests only - any other type of impact will not be considered and therefore the occupants can be badly hurt in what appears to be a 'non-serious' accident (no disrespect intended)
I would always rather be in the larger car than the smaller for any type of incident with all other factors being equal
