JASMA is the standard that parts have to meet in Japan (like our kitemark) and FGK is the make (think its Fujibutso (they made the classic STI exhausts).

Ive got a 99 Sport, and more then happy with it. Ive had my fair share of fast cars in the past, but wanted a reliable car that looked nice, and the impreza sport was the best option for my budget.
If you want a car thats reliable, looks nice but doesnt have the high insurance costs or worries you may have towards a turbo (although if looked after will be just as reliable pretty much) then go for the sport. I dont find mine underpowered, for a 2.0 8v engine in a 5dr saloon I've never felt its too slow, plenty of overtaking power too. For what it is, cant really be beaten especially as you can pick up a nice late classic sport for bargain prices at the moment...

Thought they were 2.0 16v's? My old 1.6 LX was a 16v, surely the Sport's follow suit?

I have just factory ordered a Garnet Red 2007 2.0RX (the new name for the 'Sport') to UK spec for £12025 on the road - its a parallel import, obviously (Malta).
What else comes close for that kind of price? I get Subaru reliability and build quality, AWD, air-con, HID's, good safety rating (from US tests) and decent performance from a 4-cam 160bhp engine - not WRX performance, of course, but 0-60 in 8.5s is certainly 'warm hatch' performance. Plus I get the Subaru grip and handling.
By any standards that's a bargain I think, and preferable to running around in a Skoda, Astra, Focus or something of that ilk.
