I switched to Tesco SUL a couple of weeks ago and after a few days there was some juddering around 2k revs one evening. Switched the car off and after a few min restarted it and everything was fine. Thought nothing further about it
Sunday before last I filled up with Tesco SUL then the next day I had a long journey. By the end of the day the car was hesitating like mad around 2k.
Took the car to Carnetix (who are superb btw) on Monday and guess what - Lambda sensor had gone pphhuutt
I think its more likely coincidence as I'm in Lincoln not the south

You're on the way to a gold star.

BBC NEWS | UK | 'Faulty' petrol results awaited

"Reports say silicone has been found in some of the affected cars' fuel."

Common catalyst poisons are lead, sulfur, zinc, manganese, silicon and phosphorus. (Wikipedia)

So as said previously 'cat damage may not be noticed until 10 months down the line when the car fails it's MOT because of premature 'cat failure. I can see a few arguments as to who meets this bill and proving how the damage was caused. And new 'cats don't come cheap.

I wonder how many cars filled up on this stuff? 100,000?? Say 20% damaged then that's a £20m bill at £1000 a time replacement 'cat.

i fitted a new lambda last week and went out for a drive on sunday after filling the tank

my lambda was dead in under 50 miles!!!!

although it was a cheap lambda sensor and i was compleatly thrashing the crap put the car down some wet twisties

new sensor was fitted on tuesday and has been fine ever since.

not sure if this is related as i`m up in newcastle, but its very spooky

i have to say as well

what happend to mine, was the car did lose most of its power, and the lambda was now showing a max figure of 4xx.mv instead of the usuall 875mv

simple £30 replacement sorted me out
