Why doesn't VTEC kick in on the CTR?

Lets face it, most scooby owners would bin there subaru for a M3 if they could afford it.
No one will ever take you seriously driving a subaru, they just dont have the image, If I turned up at clients premises in a impreza they would laugh at me.

The sorts of clients that would raise an eyebrow if you turned up in a Subaru. I personally couldn't give a toss what someone drives if I'm employing them to carry out a service or represent me - I wan't to know how well they can do the job not if they can stretch to a BMW, merc, Audi or jag!

03 wrx against 01 m3, my wrx was gaining very slightly all the way up 2 135. Then he backed off.

Anyone that finds a 100% working e46 M3 that can't beat a 100% working 220bhp Impreza WRX from 20-100mph in the dry where both cars are standard is entitled to my V5 and the equity in my house. You all know I'm a keen gambler so I'm good for my word

Golly, this thread is a laugh !
Think I'd take an M3 before an Impreza. Still, before I actually bought an Impreza 8 months ago, that would have been an easy decision, but now I'd think "Awe, but I'd miss the all weather ability and that burble".
Having said that, my realistic long term ambition has to be a 911...............

i was looking at the e46 m3s before my sti and yes they are a nice car BUT i thought about the reason i sold my other bm's.
they tend to get boring after a while, where as a turbo jap car will always keep you entertained, and they have a gay/hairdresser/stuck up **** image wich shouts "hey look at my m3 bmw i have a small ****".
but if i could have the windows tottaly blacked out so no one can se me driving it, it wouldnt be so bad, would just need someone to go fill it up for me.
my dad has a 55 reg bmw msport and as soon has he started the engine on my scoob he was hooked hes now looking into swaping his over ratted british built bmw for a rb320.

It will eat up sports bikes on both speed and cornering.
I currently own a 2007 WRX and have previously owned an 03 M3 cab( had to sell for financial reasons). The WRX might feel and sound faster, but the M3 definitely is. But then you are paying £20K more for that.
A tricked up WRX will be a good match, but in standard form the M3 is the daddy.

To be honest, If I compare the M3 to my RS6 the M3 is frankly SLOW !!
But once you have had cars with serious power and torque like 450bhp +
You eventually realise that its not all about horesepower, or outright speed.
The reason I went back to the M3 is because its a car that you need to know how to drive, its a challenge, its very crisp and balanced, and its got the most fantastic engine once you understand how to use it,.
