MY00 4000 miles. No knocking.

Get trading standards involved. What about Subaru customer care. Remember the sale of goods act - fit for the purpose etc.

Good luck

Otis...still sounds like you have the proverbial friday afternoon motor. It doesn't sound good if the rear demister sets off the rattles etc. Keep pushing. Still no noises from mine except the squeaking.

Off thread a little but a web site which may be of interest to Sith, Joey, Stevechaps and other members of the unofficial Charlotte H fanclub....

Car went into dealer for a wind noise last week and they kept it overnight to look at the knocking noise too.
They reported piston slap on No 4 cyl and suggested that a short engine be installed.
I will advise them when to do it, but they said it wasn't urgent!!

Ok Slightly OT here....

I get clutch judder when cold, and as most people are saying - its f'in annoying !

But some people are saying this is just the way they are.
Others are saying its wrong and clutch / gearboxes have been changed for them bu their dealer under warranty.

Whats the real deal ? Should I be going to my dealer and asking them to change the clutch ?

Jesus, this takes me back!!!!

Turned out to be a little valve in a rubber pipe coming from the servo. The pipe then changes to metal and runs along the bulkhead behind the intercooler to the passenger side. Pulleyns cured by fitting rubber washers on the bulkhead mounts for the metal pipe.

Had us all fooled for a while!!! Surprising how many Scoobs have this. We started a few up waiting for services/sale on the day we found the problem, and another 2 were also doing it!!!

Happy ending to this particular thread!!

Basically when your engine is settling down to normal idle rpm, for instance when pulling up at traffic lights, does the engine knock? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif And when you start it when it's warm does it knock for 5-10 seconds until it has settled at idle speed?

Please state a brief reply,MY99 or MY00, and your approximate mileage.

Please take a minute to reply I really do need your help with this one.

Many thanks,
