Well, I really enjoyed it. Made me laugh out loud at several of the incidents.

No, it doesn't review enough cars these days, but for those who say it should be more like 5th Gear... erm, why? They raced 2 cars around a track in reverse. Hmm. 'Nuff said. And as for that new presenter on it - he's got about as much charisma as the Mitsubishi of the same name.

Clarkson is a bit of a prat. Yes, the humour is scripted and staged, but so are most of the the funniest programmes on TV, but who cares? For a programme aired at the time most people are digesting a roast and supping alcohol, it's perfect.

Long may it continue.

There are some seriously dull people posting on this BBS these days.

Hence why I rarely bother with it anymore.

'the new Honda Civic Type 'R' is out'

Billie Piper was lovely Great taste in old cars too

Could it be that TG has gone for a wider audience appeal than real ale drinking car anoraks

It's obviously a "filler" due to hamster's crash.

Having said that, I found last nights top gear to be one of the funniest things I've seen on TV for a long time.

The limo's at the test track was quality TV

Hamster's topless limo and the paint ball attack. Scripted or not, it was hysterical

Its entertainment involving cars - and long may it continue that way

Much better than highly biased reviews from Jeremy "hardly independent" Clarkson

It was funny last night, hilarious in fact BUT..its stil not what Top Gear should be about - maybe they should rename it the Hammond/Clarkson/May show and produce a new Top Gear show for car enthusiasts??

And why to people keep bleating on about hor boring it would be to road test std Kia's or Fords, that's not what we want, but it would be nice to see a proper road test of the Civic Type R, or maybe feature some more info on the Evo X, or look more at doing some features on older cars vs newer ones?

Lets get more car stuff back into TG. I watched a best of TG the other night and it was so much better than the last few episodes.

And here's a nice clip I like from a few years back - http://www.tickfordportal.co.uk/capr...l_throttle.wmv That's the TG I used to like.

I think you will see a return to the previous quality with the new series in the summer.

The last series (8) finished as planned though? The Hammond crash was in filming for the series just gone (9), and happened after series 8 had finished.

The episodes just gone weren't the end of the previous series!

Nothing wrong with the format though!

I have gripes about top gear but i also wouldnt miss an episode either because as with last nights show..i was pissing myself laughing.

like someone said..in days gone by top gear was about as exciting as taking a valium when the likes of chris goffey bleated on for 12 mins on the fuel efficiency of hondas new 1.2 litre engine..and then pushed the car up to a giddying 23 mph around the swindon magic roundabout to show us its''nippy handling''. i think some people are wearing rose tinted specs regarding the old format

anyway most car reviews on top gear are of so many high end machines i will never own that its fun to see them get thrashed about when they are on but far more enjoyable watching 3 lunatics blow up an old portacabin after parking a cortina in it (take note TG theres a new idea for summer)

at end of the day..we have no say what they screen be it a stunt or a car review but would you rather watch holby city or heartbeat???? no?..me neither.

I'm sorry, but I did like the 'boring' bits of TG of old. The team properly tested the cars and IMHO did have a major influence of manufacturers in this country. They regularly panned cars they reviewed with a view of Ford and the like shamed into producing better cars. It's like replacing Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight with Jade Goody. You've taken a 'serious' programme and turned it into a Saturday night on Sky 1.

I'm all for the TG team churning out purile comedy crap, but, not at the loss of a previously quality programme.

Maybe I do want to know the pros and cons of one of the most purchased cars in the country rather than **** shots of a £200,000 sports car or whatever contrived phrase they call £200,000 sports cars these days (hyper cars?)

In all fairness i don't care much for the reviews on the cars, partly because JC praises/slates the test car then 4 weeks later detests/ vows undying love for the same motor and you are there scratching your head thinking....so does he like it or not?

not that i'd take the opinion of a minge haired, herman munster looking JC any day of the week but it would be nice if he kinda..stuck to his original opinion so you could see what a car tester acctualy thought!!.

and that Christian scot thomas was a right old moose i thought she was going to be a bit of crumpet and she came on and looked like a high school teacher only more starched. still at least it wasnt Jamie Oliver...again!!! but as for her being a benchmark totty for what car is cool or not..are they having a giraffe??

I do find it (well some of it) amusing but its not the top gear I really liked, you know the one that was more about cars and things.

I suppose it gets the ratings up.
