I would like to point out that the Classic Scooby is an up and coming collectable car, have a look at the 25th anniversary issue of classic and sports car, it was voted the no. 1 in the CUSP section this Month!! At the end of the day which version of the car you like is a matter of taste, the 22B is the one I would like to own. Now if that shape were to have the newer bits from the new car in it (Hawk eye STI) then that would be a good match. The interior needs updating though, I think I have read that in the states they have been fitting the inside parts from the Subaru/Saab or sabaru as it was nick named..........

LOL can't say fairer than that! I can never understand these people that think Subarus are the last word in design. THey are damn ugly, but they do their job, which is why we love them.

i dunno, i beg to digger. i think the classics, especially the 22b are good looking brutes, with their sharp wandering lines and lumps all over the bonnet. there are much more hideous car about, imho things like audi's and mercs all look pants in comparison to the raw look of a classic scoob.

I know what you mean, i always stare/admire and double check them. Even though i've seen them inside out for years. The classic still has that appeal.

I would love it if Subaru came out with a modern wide bodied version of the 22b and maybe call it the 22c. Keep the general look of the car but give it a slightly more modern look at the front and back end.

I had a choice between my car and a bug eye, both mica red, both the same money & year, i went for the classic- no regrets it looks great IMO an not too dated.

id love for a unbiast pro driver to take two scoobs that are like for like to the limits round a track and settle this once and for all, I know where my money would be

If Subaru made the classic again, they would have to re-introduce it with the new age model's chassis strengthening, refinement and better quality interior. It would also need a power hike as std to offset the extra weight this would generate. I still think it's the best looking Impreza.
At the ned of the day though. Things move on, the Classic isn't coming back and that's probably a good thing: car makers should be looking to innovate and progress, not rely on past glories.

Personally I love the look of the classic, but I wouldn't buy one if they released it again. The idea of releasing an old car doesn't work for me. There are many great looking old cars, none of which I'd like to see mass produced again. I wouldn't mind some limited editions though, it's the idea that there would be thousands of new old cars that ruins it for me.
I'm not a fan of the bug eye, but I do like some of the new models.

As most people on here probably own a classic due to their age and affordability there always gonna defend the classic?
We sold our uk classic and have to admit we will get another but this time looking for a late classic type-r or mint P1.
No doubt there cracking cars and my only moan as already stated is that drab interior. Saying that tho nothing wrong the newer models.

My rankings for shape in the scooby range are as follows, 1 Classic (especially the 22B) , 2 Hawkeye STI or RB320 (has finally grown on me) , 3 Blobeye STI , 4 Bugeye (I would have one but only with Headlamp conversion and STI spoilers). Not to keen on the Next Gen. Picts released on the net..........but still to see one in the flesh, so it may grow on me as the Hawkeye has.

I would get a re-issued classic brand new if I could. I am well stuck in the 90's as it is!
I love the *** end of the classic, rounded boot lid, nice hips etc.
I have thought so much about new age imprezas but just cant get my head round their looks, just not as nice imo.
Im off to listen to the Stereo MC's and wear a Global HyperColor t-shirt - "gonna get myself connected......"

My kids are still at school... and they and their mates think ours is 'cool'
So much as we'd really like something a bit newer - there doesn't seem much point really... although I would like STi power, STi alcantera seats, brembos etc...
- and i do still look back at it after I've parked and walked away just to admire...
