I was under the impression that with specialist ECUs the AL could be made to be "mild" and although not good for turbo life, won't kill it instantly? Especially if you could turn it on and off. Just use it now and again?

Lot of money to get pops and bangs etc but I want it too

edit - would you also need a DCCD box in order to get a scoob to drift like that?

He is pretty good but a long way off rally driving standard, he loses it quite a few times on both videos and his driving style seems a bit snatchy and not smooth if you know what i mean. He is certainly better than anything i could come up with , in saying that i havn`t done any track days or much off road stuff so i guess its just practice. It sounds a sweet scooby though.

What was the price?
What turbo & mileage/usage?

(* Don't reply with noises or size of smile when switched on. Don't want the green-eyed monster to come out )

Cant remember price 1400 ish i think. Turbo is a standard Version 6 Type R one. Mileage 45000 usage if its Sunny It does get used in the Summer on a serious note and the Anti Lag does get used mostly for fun.

I've had anti-lag on my car for must be at least 10k miles, (3 years )

No problems so far with a TD05 20G, but it's quite mild but i only really use it in tunnels and my favorite back roads

Probably more likely a TD will cope with AL better than a VF? Aren't TDs considered more robust?

Thats exactly what I imagined my reasons for wanting AL. Mild map but with the right noises. Also run the TD without a DV and get the rally chirping noise?

I knew I'd seen that car somewhere before, I thought the driving was cack then !!

I read on here that they cope better if you run without a DV than a VF. so i guess they are stronger.

Only thing is I dont want a TD05. I want a smaller quicker spooling turbo ie VF28/29/??35??

Aren't 04Hybrid's very expensive compared to 05 of VF35?

Not chasing figures, just 3-330 with similar torque but with all the "proper" noises

I think you can get anti-lag via Ecutek aswell, doesn`t have to be Autronic/ Motec etc.....

Anyone got more info on this? If true, will it work on 99/00 ECUTEK'd cars?

I've got launch control mapped into my Ecutek @ 4500 rpm

Going in for another re-map next week so if you can put a slight anti-lag on which you can switch off i would be very tempted!

360 bhp with twin scroll and anti-lag

Couldn't the pops and bangs of Anti-lag be simulated by leaving the injectors on during overrun and retarding ignition loads?

Where have you read/heard this?

I asked my mapper on each session, but got the "No" answer.

Can a techie say if this is possible and the negative sides.

Bore wash?

I'd be down for another remap tomorrow if it was available without any major side-effects.

Doubt any of the above can be had without side effects.

So thats 2K on the GEMS, 2K on DCCD (be rude not to IMO) and 2K for the engine mods to make it worthwhile.

Best start saving then

I'd like to know from someone in the know though, to see if it is worth it. I like you have always wanted it. Just trying to find the best price/safest way to get it.

Especially as i already have a Ecutek license.

It wouldn't be switchable then so would always be like that. Expect short plug life, bore wash, soot deposits on turbine wheel and exhaust valves building up from extended operation.

Plus the likes of GEMS will give you a noticable vacuum reduction when used, purposely messing up combustion won't do anything positive but make noise. Just another version of an electronic dump valve on an N/A car really.
