Paul.

The reason I comment on these threads is I hate the attitude of some people on the roads. I dont just point these things out on here, I do it on other forums and get the same response. So you cant say i'm alienating Subaru owners.

What never ceases to amaze me are the number of replies these threads get saying things like ''sweet, great driving, you're a god'' etc. I have said it before and I will say it again, MOSTLY these replies come from relative newbies on the site. Perhaps they are still nieve and believe themselves invincible in their Subarus, who knows.

All I know is anyone who starts a thread boasting of how he thought he was drifting round corners because he was going too fast and lost the back end is fair game. Especially when there were quite obviously other cars present. (being flashed madly by another subaru)

Before everyone comes back with the usual - if you don't like it pxss off somewhere else, No I dont think I will .........

How is that not a dig at Subarus?

ads00 ........ In answer to your question it's not a dig at the car it's a dig at the new breed of owners.

You picked up on my comment ''irresponsible children'' but not in the way it was intended. If I saw a 50 year old driving like an idiot I would call him the same.

Gary,

As far as i can tell this is the only current thread of this sort here out of literally dozens.

i am pretty sure it is not cumplusary to read and reply to them, i usually ignore threads i find unpalletable (unless i need to mod them).

There are many, many replies to this thread agreeing that this behaviour is stupid and unacceptable at best, yet you generalise and stereotype which seems odd as you do not appear to be an idiot as most who stereotype generally are!

All i see is one or two people, yes there are there are others i am sure but a majority of peope on here seem pretty cool and responsible.

Without doubt there are some knobber owners but a majority of scobs i see are being well driven.

I do not see a massive take over by chavescum owners just a few here and there.

I refer you to what you put that prompted me to ask the intial question

"If ever there was a thread which showed that impreza's are now being run by irresponsible children then this is it......"

Which to me implies all scoobs are now being run by *****

Maybe it is just me then

Looks like he clipped a wet curb, which veterans of the ring (not me) will tell you is a big no, no!

It's very simple:

1) You shouldn't be looking to break the limits of adhesion on a public road. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy your car's performance - of course you can; just don't deliberately try and go beyond it limits. If rally drivers occassionally get it wrong then it's arrogant to assume that you won't: the difference is, if you make a mistake your car (and anyone else's) is significantly weaker!

2) If you don't like someone's driving, fine, but don't tar all owners with the same brush!

3) If a particular kind of thread annoys you, don't bother reading it!

The thing is: I think some people have already condemned the Impreza to undesirables and will jump with glee on any opportunity to say:

"Look, you see, I told you so"

There was a section of the film biography of Howard Stern when an outraged exec is looking for a statistical reason to sack Stern. He is dimayed to learn that the average Stern fan tunes in for significantly longer than most folks who listen to the radio because they want to hear what he's going to say next.

"Ok, but what about people who don't like him?" the exec asks

They tune in for even longer, because....they want to hear what he's going to say next.

The above kind of sums these types of thread up I think.

If ever there was a stick that someone got the wrong end of it's this one

Of course it could be my poor explaining

However funnily enough looking back over the thread the young lad who picked up on my comment and gave me a grilling about not generalising about young scooby owners is the only one to have given me the middle finger smilie. How very rude

Grow up and learn to use your obviously enormous driving skills where appropriate.
people like me??? lol, i love the way some of you believe that your the ONLY ones who have access to tracks because youve lived sufficiently longer than the younger generation...im suprised you lot can even take the time keeping up with what tracks still exist since the war

i was in agreement with you earlier in this thread, but taking the pi$$ in the way your going is only gonna reveal the points of the 'haters' more. your not putting forward a good argument imho, and im 22 so of the younger generation

I have posted a few replies to this thread and although i have voiced my opinion in the fact that i agree with enjoying the performance of your car and as long as you werent putting other people at danger i cant see a major problem with testing your cars performance out.

However - I dont think you should be personally attacking people in the way are, i am 23 years old, i am fortunate to own and run my own business in Derby (Selective-Motors.com) i own an STi 8 which is running 409BHP and i enjoy my car as much as i can. So Im of the "younger generation" and i have a powerful car, but i think anybody who owns an impreza weather it be a 600BHP Monster or a Standard Sport is an enthusiast regardless of age or gender. Yes you got some c*cks who think there Mcrae but they end up in a tree somewhere soon enough.

Respect your car, respect peoples opinions, respect your elders.

I for one would like to hear an apology for the slanderous comments.

i find the 'respect your elders' quote to be totally inappropriate and misleading in any respect of the term. if i meet some 50 year old whos drinking himself to death, sponging off the state and generally wasting oxygen, how am i supposed to repect something like that?

i respect people who are wise and 'with it', not just anybody whos a few years older than me, regardless of age.

I find it immensely enlightening that you overlooked the whole point of that post, which was to take the **** out of your dumbass use of language.

What gets me is the assumption that the posters on this thread that advocate sensible use of the public roads are all ancient fuddy-duddies! Gutmann is a young bloke and a far better driver than most of these "urban drift terrorists" will ever be, IMO.

Blimey.

So, Prince - you got the car sideways (accidentally I think), saved it with power, and got a 4 wheel drift, which you felt great about. There was a scoob at the lights, facing the opposite direction as you, that flashed.

Do you think that there were other road users that you could have endangered? If so, do you think 'oops, that was a bit dumb, but enjoyable none the less', or 'who cares'? Realise you could answer the latter just to pee people off, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Quality thread.

For what it's worth, I'm younger, faster AND better looking

I'd love to have seen the drift, I bet it was one of those "ops i'm a bit sideways, get off the power, car jerks when it regains traction" type affairs

Still....that would not make good pub talk would it.

Drive like a **** by all means, fit neons..stickers,whatever?,do what you like infact.Just don't post about it please.

I love my Subaru's to death, just ordered my 5th,btw(damn near bought an Evo tho)

...but the only thing that detracts from the whole Subaru owning experience for me,is the dumbass threads posted on here far,far to often imho

Think before you post and bring a little integrity back to the Impreza's image if you wouldn't mind, before it becomes a complete laughing stock

Guys and girls.. Enjoy the privileges you have, like being able to post on a forum like this whatever your opinion and meeting like minded people (mostly) because of the passion you have for your motor.

Owning scoobies right now is a privilege, the owners (and that’s everyone and their cars on this forum) are passionate about their cars, its no different to someone owning a Cateram 7 - they do it because its something they are into.

Eventually scoobies will move down the food chain until every chav and his best friend has one (what's happening to classics such as cossies etc), until that time comes we should enjoy the cars for what they are.

Everyone has their moments, we have all done something that to others may seem stupid or irresponsible but then that’s just human nature - its when you push it too far that your bound to get yourself in trouble. I have countless memories where I drove my rear wheel drive cars a little eagerly, usually forcing the back out to power slide through bends - but that doesn't mean I would go doing that everyday.

Driving habits change over time and can depend on the car you own. Something like a scooby no doubt gets the adrenaline going and no doubt everyone has done a few things just to push the car and the limit until its out of their blood - if you keep doing that then you need to have a quiet word with yourself.

I have nothing against people enjoying their cars, when the opportunity is right, nothing to stop you but I am very much against the moron's who use a residential road as a race track or drive up the wrong side of the road against on coming traffic just because they earn serious amount of money and this justifies them to take the ****.

People come in all shapes and size, in all personalities and cultures so get over it - life is too short.
