I find this very interesting. I'm about to embark on a fairly powerful 2.5 build for use solely as a very quickly daily road car. Its important for me to have as good low down torque as possible but I also wanted to aim at around the 450-500bhp mark as a target. In your opinion what sort of power/turbo would make the absolutely ideal fast road car with a 2.5 build? I dont really need it rev that hard so long as power comes in at reasonable RPM. I also dont want to waste a lot of money on bits that are surplus to my requirements.

Classic.
I currently have a 1993 WRX wagon, though this engine will eventually end up in a sti6 wagon if all goes to plan. However I want this engine built up before the sti6 will be here so I'm pretty much starting from scratch as I dont imagine much of the current engine is usable for a moderate power build.
Currently have the brakes and suspension taken care of and am wanting as much power out of the engine as possible sacrificing drivability (like the sound of the 2.5 for its low down torque).
As I said I was origionally aiming for 500bhp but the more I read the less I like the sound of the drive you get from the big turbo's needed for this power.
What would be your suggestions (got about a 5k budget and already have a 3" exhaust and DP and FMIC so would need block, heads, injectors, turbo, headers, up pipe, water/oil pumps ect).

Hate to say it but a fair chunk of your £5k will need to be spent on the gearbox, clutch and brakes needed to handle 450 - 500HP

The MD321T would be a perfect choice IMO, although you will need your whitts about you alot more when driving with it. The classic chasis wont give you the same drive at that power level as a newage will, but thats down to the evolution of the Subaru.

You'll need a sensible amount of other kit to make it work well. But it is THE turbo of the moment.
Call me if you want to clarify.

None of the above, he's checking to see if he has enough pennies for Saturday's bacon/egg/brown sauce butties....
Big weekend this one David: The gearbox and diff gets a thrashin'.
On a serious note; what is the lead time on a ppg helical sysnchro and what ratios are 'stock' or available?
Can you pm me a price to do my Type R so I know roughly.
Will need to fit new sychro rings to be safe.
I hope this action will be around October not on my birthday (very soon...)
