Funny......but sadly so true. My wifes sister is a case in point, she had 5 kids and is a single mum.

Guess what.....her eldest daughter of 19 has just had her first kid, (father did a runner) another single mum, another jobless tax burden. I nearly choked when I had to "congratulate" her on her new acheivement, whilst grinding my teeth thinking we will all be paying for everything the kid gets.

Sorry for off topic rant......I'm angry now thinking about this government.....arrrgh!

Careful mate, you are falling into the trap of owner of vehicle Type A against owner of vehicle Type B that the govt has set.

If CO2 is the measure of pollution (debatable in itself), then why do you need a system that penalises emissions other than proportionally to those emissions. This is adequately covered by fuel duty. A car with 240g/km CO2 emissions is the same as a 4x4 with 240g/km CO2 emissions, why should it be taxed less? A 4x4 emitting 240g/km pollutes twice as much as a car emitting 120g/km, why should it be taxed propotrtionally more? A car that does 60000 miles a year at 150g/km produces much more CO2 than a 4x4 that does 5000 miles a year at 240g/km.

Let's see some sound reasoning and I will agree with the tax regime, but until the above discrepancies are addressed it all looks like a money grabbing scam.

Pete, least we forget, could you please enlighten me as to one single thing; in the last five years, this government has done that we can all say we are truely proud of

It reminds me of the end of the tory government; everything was tainted with sleaze and no-one trusted anything they said. Labour has promised alot but delivered little 'in real terms' to the British people; alot of whom probably feel like second-class citizens in their own country.

As much of a money grabbing scam as it may be there is nothing we can do to stop it!!

So what's the plan then??

Budget day on Wednesday when these new regs will be announced.

Do we cash in our road tax now and buy a new one at the current rates so that we can squeeze a few more months out?

sign the government petition against this crap

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Scrap any plans to disproportionately increase the road tax on 4x4 vehicles.

1300 so far, see how many more we can get

the unfortuante thing is to make our impact of our cars (balanced) you would have to multiply the carbon accelerator i.e 225g/km ags your miles.

Currently its a disgrace..

My sis in law drives to work and back she drives a 406pug and does 140g/km co2

My scoob does 225g/km co2

I pay 190 quid tax
I do 3.5k miles per year, 200miles per tank of Vmax at 96p = £48 per tank * 18 tanks = £864 + £190 = £1054

My sis 120 quid tax
She does 16k miles per year her diesel does 800miles per tank at 93p = £60 * 20 tanks = £1200 +120 = £1320

ok so grammes carbon dumped by me... 225* 5,000km = 787,500 grammes
my sis grammes of carbon dumped by her ....140* 26,000km =3,640,000 grammes

Ok look she spends just £200 more than me and does almost 4 times the 'supposed' environment damage in carbon work out who deserves the higher tax band....

According to this BBC NEWS | Business | The new car tax bands Band G starts at 225 g/km. I have just renewed my RFL at £190, so does that make it a Band F? I could have sworn it was in the top bracket....

think i might go and see what i can get for my scoob at the dealer :

The price of ownership just keeps going up,I can hardly justify keeping the scoob as it is:
Tracker cost
Servicing cost
Insurances
High tax (just about to go up)
High fuel bills
Mot cost
consumerbles

Thanks to the government this might be the straw that breaks the camels back

Look at you all, bleeting and blubbing ..... yet, you are better off now than at any time in history!!

You are all just plain GREEDY ...... you think nothing of spending £700 for a re-map, yet cry when the Government asks you to fund some life saving NHS treatment!!

You should all hang your big greedy heads in shame!!

You've missed the point. If you drive a subaru, your driving a luxury. Therefore your a rich bas$$$d who needs their money redistributing to the poor.
You get taxed while the people who drive around in standard cars are left alone. Give it long enough and it will hit you so hard that you'll have to buy a middle of the road car and they'll be happy that 'redistribution' has taken place.

Everyone (even the commie's) knows that if we are agreed that pollution is bad then the fairest way of taxing it is on the fuel. The problem is that the poor will have to pay more as well as the rich and then the 'working class' (commonly known as unemployed and disabled these days) can't sit round the pub puffing **** and sipping pints courtesy of the tax payer saying 'we got the rich bas$$$ds'.

Thats the problem with the G, if they came out and said we're going after the rich, and once we've got them we're going after anyone with a job, car, house ect ect and giving the money to those who can't be bothered to sort themselves out then I'd actually have some respect for them.

Its the fact they say, taxes on 4x4's because we'll all die if people keep driving them on tarmac, to hide their stupid little agenda.

If Brown and Blair cared about global warming they'd move the clocks forward 3 weeks early like they have done in the states (rekoned to save $10bn- $15bn in electric by 2010-2015)

Problem is they would not get any tax from this.

Never said it was ..... and it could be argued it IS!!

If everyone slowed down then the NHS wouldn't have to spend funds fixing people injured on the roads .......... releasing much needed funds for the dying children!!!

how to get more cash from people by labour! yes other parties wont go back as its more to spend each year! Going green is about opening another door up, get more cash that way.

First they put cash on **** and fuel, people got pissed so....
They made more speed cameras and went about it that way......
then they put pay and display on every street......
then they started to do the number plate one......
now is green stuff, what next.......

its all about getting cash to cover stuff, like pensions and the massive short fall. They look at who is able to pay and just keep hitting us. What about making people that dont work actually do stuff, fooking people sponging, etc. Look at other euro countries, they dont allow people to get benefits for anything, we do and its the normal man that pays for it!

No one cared about the environment this time last year, well from the labour government anyway. Now if we dont do something now thats it we are done for, even though the UK only accounts for 2% of the world carbon "foot print". So us going mental today will sort this?

Is there a party out there actually looking to help us? Looking to meet our requirements in the best way? Are MP's actually qualified? Why do they need all these experts, lets sack MP's and employee people that are qualified to do the job, may be we wouldnt end up in such a mess!

Only good thing is less scum buying scoobs then!

Well I think I will now apply for disability like everyone else to cover the costs of this extra tax.
I have a genetic disease that qualifies me to have, so f@ck it I will sponge like everyone else who enters the country via our COMMON MARKET.

Makes me sick, that I visit people in there own houses and they then show me how much benefits they get and openly admit that they are better off NOT WORKING. No rent,Council Tax, free precriptions(Is this not a drain on NHS Mr Lewis, I know for a fact that people go to the Dr's with ailments to send our FREE drugs to there family in other countries)

Welcome BRITAIN.....................................only GREAT if you dont want to work...

I wonder what our Common Market friends can offer me if I wanted to go and live there.

Before anyone thinks I am racists they are wrong my girlfriend is multi raced.

A Scooby has been built to your requirements, sadly it runs on fuel and pollutes the atmosphere ................... so, you will have to pay for the priveledge of being a mass polluter.

If you don't want to pay for the damage you are doing - please, be my guest and buy a less polluting form of transport.

If you do buy one you will be saving yourself money and saving the planet too - think how good that would make you feel??
