I've got an L200 double cab. find me an estate car that will carry all 4 of us in comfort, carry all my tools and equipment without having to put down the seats and that'll take me green-laning and off-roading at the weekend.
It does 30-40 mpg, has road tax of £110 per year ( until tomorrow, probably!) and handles well.
I had an argument with some ****-smelling hippy in a very old and polluting VW Beetle, he had written 'bad choice of car' in the mud on the tailgate - I had to tell him that my truck sucks in the ****e his car emits and turns it out cleaner! It's sheer facking ignorance of EVERYONE who bashes 4x4's without knowing the driver's circumstances.
Out of my last 4 'normal' cars, this is the least polluting and if anyone feels intimidated by 4x4's, then it is they who have a chip on the old shoulder!
Fack me, since when has it been illegal to own ANY type of car?

We bought our 'family' RAV4 last year mainly because of it's elevated seat position ...it's so much easier getting a baby/toddler out of a car without bending your back (missus suffer's back pain from a previous accident) ...but ive noticed a few other things that probably explains why they are so popular ...they're excellent at negociating our local coucils attempts at traffic calming! i.e they're great at going over speed bumps & going through pot holes ...they're also great for seeing over road planners attempts at making junctions 'blind' Im pretty sure they do this deliberatley too, in an attempt to slow your entry by placing a fence or bush right in your eyeline! ...finally, they are an absolute doddle to clean!

I own a Subaru and this amongst others, I don't use it for the school run, more as somthing nice to go out for a meal in etc, and nip to the shops in
I don't care what other people think, I like it and that's the end of it
. I've been on a run out over to the WYIOC in it and it didn't fare too badly either, but with a 5 litre V8, it should do
