Especially if you cant even pass it on to your kids - they will have to sell it to pay the tax! I wish all houses were worth 50% less - but then the chancellor doesnt, does he... Nuff said.

i assume you understand its not 350 until 2010? the increase is greater between 09 and 10 than previous years but not by much - over the last 10 years the increases have all been pretty similar as an increase in relation to property prices.

If so, then you can have a nice Tax Cut ................

You have all done VERY WELL from rising property prices, you all drive an expensive car, most of you spend ££££££££££'s trying to make it go faster, you don't care about what it pollutes and by how much, you all earn more than £40k a year (if not you should be voting Labour!!!), most of you have big flat screen TVs and a lifestyle that those in the 1950's could only dream about!!

Now, you have NEVER had it so good ..... stop moaning and blubbing and being greedy - share it amongst those less fortunate!!
What you say in your first line is probably close to the truth if things carry on as they are at the moment.

The reason so much money is needed is because of the vast and largely unnecessary beaurocracy which has been created by your heros. The cost of this to the country and the wasteful policies and ideas that they generate, are very expensive and do not do anything worthwhile as far as the people of this country are concerned.

We are losing public services now, the standard of education has been deliberately lowered as have examinations just to make it all look good, even if school leavers can't communicate and so many of whom cannot read or write basic english. The Health Service, despite having all that money thrown at it is deteriorating for lack of finance and being restricted by targets etc. as are the police forces who spend most of their time filling in paperwork instead of being on the streets where we need them. Law and order at street level is being sacrificed to the strange ideas of the PC Plonkers, including those who run the police forces!

Get all this sorted and then it can be improved for considerably less money and to the good of the general population for a change. Means that Flash and his compatriots could stop all the borrowing from the IMF who have already warned him over that and also the percentage of tax we all pay on our incomes.

Yes we should help out the Third World but not just for image's sake and not at the expense of the desperately needy in this country.

I know you're just bating here, but I don't own a house and I don't have a fat plasma screen either!

The reason I don't have a house is, of course, the absurd property prices that this government has done squat about. High property prices are stopping the current young generation from starting families (unless you're on benefits, in which case property prices don't matter). Those couples who do manage to buy a house will be too broke to ever have children!

You hail the high property prices of this country as a success of the Labour government, but is in fact a huge failure on the young of this country and I don't think it should be celebrated.

So, gee, Gordon, thanks for raising my taxes and also making sure that I can't afford a house of my own!

Ohh the irony of owning a phat plasma and having nowhere to put it! Also I want my daughter to have our house when I pop my clogs - lets face it what hope does she have of getting her own place [like her mum did and I did] unless she marries rich or comes out of college to earn £50k pa [at todays rates]? However the IHT means the modest family home will have to be sold to pay the tax - still leaving her nowhere to put up My First Plasma. Maybe if I preserve her Wendy house really well? Is there a Wendy house tax
