That The CO2 groupings remain unchanged for bands A to E. F now has a ceiling of 225 g/km and new band G covers all cars with a CO2 of 226 and over.

Does this now mean my WRX 2001 march 20th bugeye with 242 co2 on the log book is band G
Band G only refers to "Private Vehicles registered on or after 23rd March 2006" - copied from above website

You'd think so. But i'm only charged £110 a year for my scoob, which, according to the paperwork, has a 1.2 litre engine

Imports get off very lightly - about time they had a break, they are rated under cc as they are not type approved and therefore are not banded.

The bandings do not apply, not sure about the FQ range of EVO's as they all came in under SVA too, could be over £100 cheaper to run over a year?

It does not matter what the grm/km is for an import anything over 1549 cc is £180 a year. Just taxed Toyota starlet for £60.50, now £63.25 and its been moded to 175 BHP, cheap tax for a quick car

FFS! My cars only worth a couple of grand! £110 for 6 months tax!
How the **** can they justify me paying the same as someone with a brand new £50k car. By definition my car is reaching its end so will only have Xamount of emissions to put out, whereas a new car has 200k miles plus of emissions ahead of it!.
"Pollution" doesn't exist anyway, there's no evidence to support a cars emissions is damaging to the environment and is all a conspiracy to scare us into putting our hands in our pockets.

So the way I see it is, if your car is registered on or after 23rd March 2006, and the CO2 is higher than 226 you will have to pay £300 for 12 months tax.
i.e. a STI Impreza 06, but NOT an Impreza STI 05 (which I have) so tax will be £210 for 12 months, even though its higher CO2 of 226.

But will this change sometime next year?
